Show Intro
"Evening all, and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show, right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."
"This week it is coming to you all the way from Atlanta in Georgia."
"Two shows down, twenty-four to go, on in a few hours' time."
"So we've only got this sixty minutes, so let's not mess around."
"This is Nazareth."
Nazareth
"These days they are fronted by a gentleman called Carl Sentance, who was once a singer in Persian Risk."
"I remember those guys, he was also notably in Geezer Butler's band for a while and sang with Krokus for a few years."
"So he's been around but got a great voice and I'd say a pretty suitable replacement for the late great Dan McCaffert."
"That is Nazareth from an album from a couple of years ago called Surviving The Law, the song that we heard, Strange Days."
Deep Purple
"Now here's another band that's been knocking around for years and making new music still as well."
"This is Deep Purple."
"And before that some brand new Deep Purple."
"The album is out in a few days time and I can't wait to hear it because on the strength of this alone it really reminds me of circa 1971 Fireball Deep Purple."
"It's really good."
"I think Don Airey is doing a great job on the organ and the new guitar is Simon McBride."
"He really is somebody to write home about."
"Absolutely brilliant stuff, the song that we heard, Lazy Sod."
Slash
"I've always loved that song since I first heard Fleetwood Mac's original when I was probably about ten years old."
"It's one of the greatest blues rock riffs ever written and it's wonderful to hear it given a bit of an update by Slash from his latest album, Orgy Of The Damned, featuring Chris Stapleton on vocals."
"That is a wonderful cover of the song Oh Well."
Lenny Kravitz
"Now these next couple of songs I'm playing back to back for a specific reason that I think will become abundantly clear when the second song kicks in."
"Starting it off with Lenny Kravitz."
"And before that is a brand new Lenny Kravitz album called Blue Electric Light with a song called TK-421."
"I suppose I should be saying now coming up Switch 625 by Def Leppard."
"But I won't."
David Bowie
"Yeah just a bit of fun really."
"I was listening to the Lenny Kravitz album and I thought that title looks familiar."
"So why don't I play them back to back."
"We just heard David Bowie from the 1976 album Station To Station with a song called TVC-15."
"Instead I'm just going to say we're going to hold a mirror up to the sky with Yes."
Yes
"And before that we heard Yes from their latest album Mirrors Of The Sky on a track that really highlights Steve Howe as a great guitarist."
"The song that we heard All Connected."
Status Quo
"Unless you're an absolutely mad hardcore fan of the band I bet you'd be very surprised to find out that that is actually the very same bunch of guys that recorded Paper Plane, Down Down, Caroline, etc etc."
"Yes, that is Status Quo."
"From 1970 the album is called Mar Kelly's Greasy Spoon, the song that we heard Everything."
ELO
"Well it is written in the good book that on the seventh day God rested but on the third day ELO didn't."
"And before that we heard ELO from that wonderful album that is called On The Third Day with Ma Ma Ma Belle."
Mick Ronson
"Featuring one of the craziest lyrics ever written by David Bowie or Mick Ronson or both."
"And is indeed Mick Ronson from his debut solo album back in 1974 Slaughter on Tenth Avenue."
"But it is a 2022 remix from a Record Store Day release of the song Hey Ma Get Papa."
Show Outro
"And that my friends all the way from Atlanta in Georgia is about it for this week."
"It's been a real pleasure as always."
"I have to run and get ready but I will be back with you next week at exactly the same time from Nashville in Tennessee."
"Supposedly the home of country music but I tell you right now that city rocks."
"But who knows that we may bump into Tim McGraw, we may bump into Alison Krauss, we will not be bumping into Tay Tay because she is currently touring Europe."
"But I will be back with you this time next week."
"So until then let's end on this one taken from the Lost Singles collection."
"This is Sweet and Fox On The Run."
"Until next week, see ya!."
