Show Intro

"Evening all, and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"And greetings, by the way, all the way from St. Louis in Missouri, where in just a few short hours we shall be hitting the stage for the first of 26 shows all over the USA this summer with our good friends Journey."

"And welcome for the first time ever, the Steve Miller Band on a lot of these shows, but not tonight."

"We have Cheap Trick, who I shall be playing later on, I have no problems telling you."

"What have we got right now though, before I have to go and get ready?."

"60 minutes, one short hour to play some great music I think, so where are we going to start?."

"Let's get pretty vicious, shall we?."

"This is The Struts."

The Struts

"From their latest, and in my humble opinion, greatest album, Pretty Vicious, that is The Struts with Rockstar."

"And let's be honest, they are, aren't they?. All of them."

"Luke especially, bit of a rockstar."

David Bowie

"This next guy, total rock and roll star."

"This is David Bowie."

"And before that, we heard David Bowie from what is essentially a 5 CD version of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars."

"The Box Set is Rock And Roll Star."

"And what we just heard is a Ken Scott remix from 2023 of an old B-side recorded during the Ziggy sessions called Holy Holy."

Moggs Motel

"Well, I have to say, this has come right out of the blue for me, because I thought this gentleman had completely retired from the music industry, but I'm happy to say I've been proven wrong."

"Phil Mogg. Welcome back."

"Ex-UFO has now got a project called Mogg's Motel, where he has hooked up with fellow ex-UFO member Neil Carter for a great little tune called Apple Pie."

"So welcome back, Phil."

Cheap Trick

"Now I did mention I was going to play them, so here they are."

"This is Cheap Trick."

"And before that, we heard Cheap Trick, an alternative version of a song that was originally on the album Standing on the Edge."

"It's from a collection called The Epic Archive Vol. 3 and it's the alternative version of How About You."

Steely Dan

"Now I'm not sure if this is an urban myth or partly true or totally true, but supposedly that song was written about Rick Springfield, who was offered the job as the lead singer in that band, but turned it down."

"And they wrote this song just in case he changed his mind, I guess."

"It is Steely Dan from Pretzel Logic with Ricky Don't Lose That Number."

"If anybody knows the real truth, do let me know."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"Coming up, and as a way of celebrating our tour starting tonight, we're going live and nothing but live."

Led Zeppelin

"And before that, we heard Led Zeppelin, sort of, because as Robert announced right at the end there, it was Jason Bonham's son of the late John on drums."

"It's the 2007 Celebration Day performance from the O2 Arena, which I was very privileged to witness on the night."

"I was there and it was wonderful."

"And what we just heard, great live version Of The Song Remains The Dame."

Thin Lizzy

"In my humble opinion, that is one of the most underrated songs in the entire Thin Lizzy catalogue."

"A wonderful bit of work taken there from the live, live album that is Thin Lizzy with The Sun Goes Down."

Bill Nelson And The Gentlemen Rocketeers

"OK, so sticking with live as promised, here's a couple of artists that I put together because both these next songs were recorded in exactly the same venue, starting off with Bill Nelson and The Gentleman Rocketeers."

"And before that, once of Be Bop Deluxe and Red Noise, we heard Bill Nelson with his Gentleman Rocketeers with a fantastic live version of The October Man."

The Zombies

"Yes, both those performances recorded live at the Metropolis Studios in London."

"We just heard The Zombies from, I think it was about 2012, with a wonderful version of that song Care of Cell 4."

Show Outro

"And that, my friends, all the way from St. Louis in Missouri is about it for this week."

"It's been a real pleasure, as always."

"I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time, all the way from Atlanta in Georgia."

"So until then, I shall leave you with this."

"It's live, but it's not in front of an audience."

"It is from a recording from the mid-70s for a TV special that never got broadcast outside of Japan."

"But now it has been made available and it's well worth a listen."

"From the album One Hand Clapping, this is Paul McCartney and Wings and Soilly."

"Until next week, see ya!."
