JOE ELLIOTT On DEF LEPPARD 2027 Album Release/Rejoice Single
Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott has been interviewed and talked about the next studio album and current Rejoice single.
The new single 'Rejoice' was released in January with a lyric video.
Joe has talked about the song and new music.
New Studio Album In Early 2027
Joe was interviewed by France 24 for their music show Arts24 and mentioned the upcoming new album.
Joe says it will be released in early 2027.
In March 2026 Phil said the next album likely be released "in 2027" with Joe now being more specific.
Joe also talked about the upcoming show in Paris and recalled the recent touring in Las Vegas and India and how the band now record remotely.
Bonus points to presenter Marjorie Hache for her leopard print outfit.
This appearance was broadcast on the France 24 TV channel which is available in the UK and Freeview channel 255.
The Arts24 show is on at least three or four times daily.
17/18 Songs/Two Albums Of Material
Joe repeated Vivian's news of a total of up to 17 or 18 new songs being considered for the album.
He also suggested the new album might be the first of two new albums with so much new matrial written.
That means there will likely be at least two albums released in 2027 with Joe having already said in July 2021 that a 40th anniversary edition of 'Hysteria' would come out in 2027.

Joe Elliott May 2026 Interview Quotes
Now, Joe, I'm sure your fans are wondering: does this mean there's a new Def Leppard album coming out with new songs?
"Absolutely. We're actually recording it as I speak. Somewhere in the world, people are adding their bits to some new songs. We've developed a whole new method of recording, which was brought on by COVID.
I’ve got a studio at home, and everybody has always graciously come to my house to record. We'd do a month at a time and then go home. But they couldn't travel, so we ended up recording remotely, and we found it exhilarating. Everybody got to be at home with their families and still make a record. We trusted each other that we were writing songs, and everybody just played on everybody else's bits.
It's easy to do. We don't all record in one room even when we are in the same studio. We do the drums and bass, then the guitars, then the vocals — it's all layered."
Las Vegas 2026 Recording
"So we've been recording while we were in Vegas. On days off, we had the drums set up in the basement of the theatre, and Rick played loads of drums on his days off. They'd do guitars in the hotel rooms and stuff like that. I sing when I get home.
."2027 Album Release Date
"We've got about 17 or 18 songs written, so we've almost got two albums. We're still deciding which songs are going to go on album one, if you like. We're looking at an early 2027 release."
And your new track is called "Rejoice". What's it about? What are you rejoicing about?
"Well, the title kind of sums it up, really. I wanted to write a really uplifting, positive-message song. I said to Phil, 'I've got this great idea. I need it to be mid-tempo. I want it to have a big intro drum loop so we can actually walk on stage to this and expand it and make it longer live.'
The whole idea of the song is, it starts off — I mean, it's a great opening line — 'I'm bored of boredom, I'm sick of all this,' and I want to be in a better place."
"So it gets to the climax, you go through the bridge, and it gets to the chorus: 'I want to go higher.' It's just very uplifting. It's a joyous, uplifting song.
That's what we are. We're an escapism band. We're not here to preach. We're not here to tell you to vote for this or that — other people can do that."
We like to take you away from that and just have a good time. It's not meaningless — there is a message there."
> "The message is, we need to share this moment together and make it a positive one. 'Rejoice' just about sums that all up."
