  • Location / San Sebastian, Spain
  • Venue / Vel√≥dromo de Anoeta

The first show by the band in this city.

The first time at this venue.

The venue is located to the South of the city centre and part of the Anoeta Sports Complex.

It was opened in 1965.

A planned show at this venue in April 1988 had to be cancelled a few days before.

The Donostia Arena played by the band in 2013 is also nearby.

A show would be scheduled at this venue in April 1988 but cancelled at the last minute due to Joe's vocal issues.

UFO were once again replacements on the bill for Scorpions and played first.

The last of the 22 shows supporting Ritchie Blackmore's band Rainbow throughout Europe.

Two further scheduled shows were cancelled by Rainbow in France.

These were 7th July at Stade de la Beaujoire, Nantes with 4,000 capacity.

And 8th July at Parc Des Exposition, Brest with 5,000 capacity.

Rainbow went on to played on 8th and 9th July in London, England at the Rainbow Theatre with Australian band Rose Tattoo in support.

Their UK tour would coincide with Def Leppard's own tour their.

Rainbow's tour started with the two London dates and continued through Edinburgh (10th/11th), Leeds (13th/14th), Leicester (15th/16th), Stafford (18th/19th), St. Austell/Cornwall (20th), Manchester (22nd), Newcastle (23rd/24th) and two more London dates at Hammersmith Odeon on 26th and 27th July.

Def Leppard's own headline UK tour ended at Hammersmith on the 25th July.

A decent quality audience recording exists from this show.
