Show Story - From Animal Instinct
"In Denver, Leppard and Blackfoot were booked for two shows at the Rainbow on October 27th. Joe estimates that of the 1200 people at each show, at least 1150 had had come to see Leppard. Leppard played the opening set for the first show, per their deal with Blackfoot which always closed the show. For the second show, however, Blackfoot's manager - sensing the lack of interest in his band by the crowd - insisted that his boys do the opening honors, thereby avoiding getting blown off the stage by Leppard."
"To make matters worse, Def Leppard were not travelling with headliner equipment and the lighting was at best adequate. "So we thought 'OK, that's the way they want it? That's the way they're gonna get it'" Def Leppard took the stage for the second show and blew the roof off the Rainbow. Joe claims it was one of the best shows the band has ever done. During Getcha Rocks Off, Joe leaped off the stage and ran up to the console in the back of the hall where Robert Allen was mixing the sound. Before Robert knew what had happened, Joe yanked his trousers down and dashed back to the stage in time to finish the song. When a female security guard, mistaking Joe for a rabid fan, refused to let him back on stage, Joe replied sharply "I'm the f**king singer."
