  • Location / Atlanta, GA, USA
  • Venue / The Fox Theatre / Fox Theatre

The first show by the band in this city since July 1980 on the On Through The Night tour.

The first time at this venue.

Technically the first show in the actual city of Atlanta as the 1980 show was 49 miles from the city centre in Braselton, GA.

The venue is located in the Midtown area of the city centre close to the Georgia Institute Of Technology.

It was opened in 1929 and is also known as The Fabulous Fox Theatre.

The roof inside the venue is lit up with blue lights making it seem like an open air theatre (see below).

A local band named 'Bondage' were third on the bill after winning a 'Battle Of The Bands' contest sponsored by the Agora Ballroom.

Show Story - From 'Animal Instinct' 1987

"A car full of crazies in Atlanta, Georgia got their jollies when they spotted Rick Allen and Cliff Burnstein hitch-hiking into town from a local hospital where Rick received treatment for a touch of clap. "We radioed for a cab at the hospital, but it never came," Cliff remembers. "So we thumbed it. Some wild kids picked us up and they went 'Hey. man, you're the drummer with Def Leppard.' These rednecks had driven two hundred miles to see the gig, in this car that was ready to fall apart at any minute. They will always remember that, having Rick Allen in the back of their car, hitch-hiking."
