The venue is located on Arundel Gate not far from the Crucible Theatre and about 10 minutes walk from the main train station.

It was opened in 1967.

It hosted as the Top Rank Suite from around 1969 until at least June of 1984 when it went on to have various names like the Roxy Disco and the Top Rank Club.

It reopened in 2008 under its new name of the O2 Academy.

A venue where Joe Elliott saw many bands as mentioned on his Planet Rock radio show. He also attended the Sunday night rock disco called 'Improvisions' at this venue in the mid to late 70s.

The band received a very positive review in the major music magazine Record Mirror who praised their "astonishing depth" despite their youth.

One of the songs was dedicated to the memory of AC/DC singer Bon Scott who had died the previous day in London (19th February). The band having opened for AC/DC on the October/November 1979 'Highway To Hell' tour.
