The venue is located in the Rose Quarter area of the city centre and ext to the Willamette River. the Moda Center venue was built next to it in October 1995 as the Rose Garden Arena.

It was opened in November 1960 as the Memorial Coliseum.

In 2011 it was renamed as the Veterans Memorial Coliseum Portland.

The closing night of the 9 shows played supporting Pat Travers with the band now moving on to support fellow British band Judas Priest in Texas.

Local DJ Gloria Johnson of KGON radio had been the first in America to play Def Leppard earlier in the year.
