Show Intro
"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. I've got one hour. That's sixty minutes to bring you, in my humble opinion, what I think is some wonderful music. Starting off with the most brilliant bit of primal drumming that you'll ever hear on a song. This is Iggy Pop."
Iggy Pop
"Co-Written with and produced by David Bowie that is Iggy Pop from 1977. It is the title track of the album Lust For Life."
Alice Cooper
"It's very sad that he's no longer presenting on Planet Rock, but he's still making great music. This is Alice Cooper."
"And before that the mighty Alice Cooper from his latest album Road. With a song called Big Boots. I said BOOTS. Get your mind out of the gutter."
The Who
"Recorded in 2019 but only released earlier this year. That is The Who with orchestra. Live at Wembley with the absolutel immortal Pinball Wizard."
Vega
"And from the gutter into the trenches to draw p the battle lines. This is Vega."
"And before that we heard Vega from their latest album Battle Lines with a wonderful bit of work called God Save The King."
Skunk Baxter
"That my dear friends is a gentleman called Jeff 'Skunk' Baxter once a member of The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan. It's his first ever solo album. It's called Speed of Heat. And it's produced by C.J. Vanston. And for any hardcore Def Leppard fan you may recognise that name because he's the guy that co-wrote This Guitar with Phil. All the way back in 2003. Which we didn't record until Diamond Star Halos. Apt as well I think that Jeff Skunk Baxter would choose to record that particular song, 'cause he played on the original version with Steely Dan. The song is called My Old School."
"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up, some latter day Queen."
Queen
"And before that we heard Queen. Fantastic stuff. Very Zeppelin-esque indeed. With some lovely flamenco work in the middle. It's the title track of their 1991 album Innuendo."
Mick Ronson
"Just like the opening song on tonight's show Lust For Life, that is a song that was co-written with David Bowie. It's the late great Mick Ronson from his debut solo album Slaughter On Tenth Avenue way back in 1974. But this is kind of a relatively new version. Came out a couple of years ago as an E.P. It's remixed, remastered and edited down. The song is Hey Ma Get Papa."
U2
"Right time now for a couple of legendary Irish bands. One of them sadly no longer with us. But one of them lording it up big time right now in Las Vegas. This is U2."
"And before that we heard U2. Currently in residency in Las Vegas in The Sphere. If you've seen any photographs or videos of this place. It's mental. And they're doing a residency to celebrate the album Achtung Baby. So I thought I would play the opening track which is Zoo Station ."
Thin Lizzy
"I can not stop playing the Jailbreak album. Came up randomly about ten days ago and I've pretty much played it every day since. It's a great album 1976. It is Thin Lizzy. The song we just heard from that album Angel From The Coast."
Show Outro
"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time. So don't touch that dial.
"Until then I shall leave you with this. This is a band I saw two or three times at the Sheffield Top Rank at the Improvisions rock club. And they were magnificent. From the album First Base. This is Babe Ruth and Wells Fargo. Until next week see ya!."
