Show Intro

"Greetings one and all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"I hope you all had a great Christmas."

"Now tonight's show is going to be my roundup of 2024."

"I can't play every single song I like because I don't have enough time."

"I've had to round it down to the 60 little minutes that we have."

"So let's get this show on the road."

"This is Bon Jovi."

Bon Jovi

"From his 16th studio album released earlier this year, that is of course Bon Jovi."

"With echoes of the past, but in a very, very cool way."

"The album is Forever the song we heard, Living Proof."

Ian Hunter

"Now defiance comes in many ways, but for this particular gentleman, he defies both logic and age."

"This is Ian Hunter."

"And before that, Ian Hunter, who as I said in the intro, defies logic and age at the age of 84, 85, still being able to make music like this is astonishing."

"Long may it continue."

"The album is Defiance Part 2, the song we heard, People."

Black Eyed Sons

"By all accounts, their debut gig just before Christmas went down an absolute storm."

"I'm talking about the Black Eyed Sons, brand new band born out of the ashes of the old Quireboys."

"The album is called Cowboys In Pinstripe Suits."

"It's out in January."

"The song that we just heard Lie To Me."

Von Hertzen Brothers

"Now for anyone that listens to my show on a regular basis, you will know that I'm a huge fan of these next guys."

"And they just keep getting better."

"This is the Von Hertzen Brothers."

"And before that, we heard the Von Hertzen Brothers' wonderful stuff from their latest album In Murmuration with the aptly titled Starlings."

Jack White

"He's quirky, he's eccentric, but he's incredibly talented."

"It is Jack White from the album No Name with That's How I'm Feeling."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"This week, it is my best of 2024."

"Coming up, it's new, but it's old, but it's brilliant."

Queen

"And before that, we heard Queen, brand new Queen sort of, came out in October."

"It is Queen One."

"It's a 2024 remix, and it actually sounds like a brand new album."

"But of course, as we all know, it was originally released in 1973."

"I highly recommend you get this if you've got record tokens for Christmas."

"It's brilliant."

"Queen One, as I said, the song we heard, Liar."

Paul McCartney/Wings

"Okay, Governor, it's a fair cop."

"Truth is, I've actually had a copy of this record for decades, courtesy of a very wonderful bootleg shop in Tokyo, Japan."

"But now I have the official version, which is not hissy and has been way better edited."

"And it's a wonderful live session recording by Paul McCartney and Wings, an album called One Hand Clapping."

"A song that I do believe they never actually did an official studio version of."

"I can only find it on Wings Over America."

"The song is Soilly, and I wish they had done a studio version because it's a great song."

Lenny Kravitz

"Right then, getting the funk out, this is Lenny Kravitz."

"And before that, we heard Lenny Kravitz, fantastic stuff from his album Blue Electric Light with TK421."

Ricky Warwick

"The album is called Blood Ties."

"It's out on the 14th of March."

"It is Ricky Warwick, and there he is duetting with the legend that is Lita Ford with a song called Don't Leave Me In The Dark."

Show Outro

"And that, my dear friends, is about it for this particular show, which has been a little peep into some of the great songs that have been released in 2024."

"And I think we should also mention that we lost a lot of wonderful musicians this particular year as well."

"The likes of Steve Harley, Tony Clarkin from Magnum, Paul Di'Anno, James Kottak, who played drums with, amongst others, the Scorpions."

"Wayne Kramer from the MC5, Bobby Tench, who played with Nicko McBrain in the Street Walkers and also with Jeff Beck and Humble Pie."

"Hairy Biker Dave Myers, Eric Carman, the legend that is Duane Eddy, ELO's Richard Tandy, Annie Nightingale, Steve Albini, who produced Nirvana amongst others."

"David Sanborn, who played wonderful saxophone on David Bowie's Young Americans album."

"John Mayall, the blues legend, Karl Wallinger from World Party, Jack Russell from Great White, Dickey Betts, a founding member of the Allman Brothers."

"Herbie Flowers, who played that wonderful bass on David Essex's Rock On and, of course, Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side."

"J. D. Souther, who was a co-writer with the Eagles, and Pete Sinfield, the lyricist for King Crimson on Court of the Crimson King and Emerson, Lake and Palmer as well."

"All gone in 2024."

"Let's hope that 2025 is a little kinder on us all, and I hope you all have a wonderful 2025."

"And on that note, a bit more lamentable than one would expect, I suppose, from a Joe Elliott show."

"I'm going to end with this song, and you might wonder why I'm playing this."

"Well, I'm playing it because, yes, it's post-Christmas, but I only received it after my Christmas show."

"And it was sent to me by Michael Monroe, once, of course, of Hanoi Rocks."

"And it's a fantastic duet with himself and a fellow Finnish lady called Sara Aalto, and this is their version of Fairytale Of New York."

"Until next year, see ya!."
