Show Intro

"Hello, hello, hello. Welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show, right here on, you know where, the wonderful Planet Rock."

"Such a pleasure to be with you."

"We've got some amazing stuff tonight. I've got brand new music."

"I've got recently recorded old music and I've got recently remixed old music."

"So there's nowhere else I could possibly start tonight's show than right here, right now with this."

"This is absolutely a brand new mix of 1973 Queen."

Queen

"Now, if you're a Queen fan, you have to have this."

"This is the most essential thing that Queen have released in decades."

"It is now officially called Queen I and this box set is just to die for."

"The book that accompanies it is stunning."

"There's pictures of the band, there's a poster."

"Most importantly, there's six CDs and the new mix on vinyl."

"But let's concentrate on the music."

"What stands out the most on this collection is Roger Taylor's drum sound because when he originally recorded the drums, they were on an in-house kit that was made out of Perspex and in his words, he politely put, wasn't very good."

"With the modern technology available to us now, we've got the Roger Taylor sound on a record that was made in 1973."

"So it basically sounds like it was recorded in 2024 and it just benefits so much."

"There was really nothing that wrong with the first album from a song point of view, but from a sound point of view, you could hear the progress with Queen II."

"Now you're hearing Queen I and it's even bigger than Queen II is."

"It's incredible as you just heard there, which is a great song to play because Brian's guitars are to die for, so is Fred."

"John Deacon's bass playing is amazing, but Roger's drumming on this song that we just heard."

"Wow. And trust me, the rest of the album sounds just as good. It is stunning."

"And of course, you're a Queen fan. You already know what you just heard."

"If you're not, you heard the song Liar."

Black Eyed Sons

"Okay, so where do we go from there?."

"Tell you where we go."

"Brand new music from the Black Eyed Sons."

"And before that, we heard absolutely brand spanking new music from the Black Eyed Sons, a brand new band that have risen like a phoenix from the ashes of The Quireboys."

"If you've been reading the rock press recently, you'll know that they've split from Spike."

"And Guy Griffin has stepped up very manfully to take over lead vocals."

"And what a fantastic job he is doing on that particular song."

"That song actually was gifted to the band by Company Of Wolves, a band from this New York area that they've been mates with since the late 80s."

"In fact, two of them, Kyf Brewer and Steve Conte, play on that particular song."

"And the album is out in January."

"It is Cowboys in Pinstripe Suits and the song that we just heard, which I'm completely on board with, Foolin' Yourself."

"Well done, guys."

The Rolling Stones

"Wonderful stuff there from the Rolling Stones."

"On their album Voodoo Lounge, we just heard You Got Me Rockin'."

"What a lyric."

Company Of Wolves

"And talking of Company of Wolves, if you've never heard them, well, you're about to."

"And before that, Company Of Wolves, I already mentioned the fact that Kyf Brewer and Steve Conte played on the Black Eyed Sons album."

"Their drummer, Frankie LaRocka, was my partner in co-producing the final and posthumous third solo album of the late Grape Mick Ronson."

"So there they are, Company Of Wolves from the album Company Of Wolves with a beautiful bit of work called Romance On The Rocks."

Cheap Trick

"One of my all-time favourites, that is the wonderful Cheap Trick title track of their album Standing On The Edge."

"Great stuff."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"Coming up, we're going to pay homage to a couple of guys that just got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Ozzy Osbourne

"Along with the guy that we had before, Ozzy Osbourne, who's now in twice because he's already in with Black Sabbath, but now, rightfully so, he's in as a solo artist."

"And we just heard him there from his latest album just from a year or so ago, Patient No. 9, produced by Andrew Watt."

"And the song we heard, which features some wonderful guitar work from Eric Clapton, One Of Those Days."

"Congratulations, gentlemen."

Peter Frampton

"Now, that is a beautiful reinterpretation of that classic Soundgarden song, Black Hole Sun."

"Features Matt Cameron and Mike McCready."

"And it is none other than Peter Frampton, who just earlier this week was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."

Chris Cornell

"And seeing as we just heard a Soundgarden song with no vocals on it, I thought we would give the singer his own spotlight."

"So here he is."

"This is Chris Cornell."

"And before that, another guy no longer with us, Chris Cornell from the original soundtrack of Casino Royale."

"We heard You Know My Name, and indeed we do."

Jeff Buckley

"Broken, fragile, but just like his father, Tim, extremely talented."

"That is the late, great Jeff Buckley there from the album, Grace, with a lovely bit of work called Eternal Life."

Show Outro

"And that, my friends, is about it for this week."

"It's been a real pleasure, as always."

"I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time, so don't go anywhere."

"So until then, I shall leave you with this."

"From the album Live At The Leadmill, recorded on the 19th of May, 2023, but written in 1978."

"This is Def Leppard and Wasted."

"Until next week, see ya!."
