Show Intro
"Greetings, my fellow music lovers, and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."
"Always a pleasure."
"I've got 60 short minutes, one solid hour of rock for you."
"I've got some really good music lined up, in my humble opinion, and we're going to start off with something absolutely brand spanking new."
"This is Ricky Warwick."
Ricky Warwick
"The album is coming, I'm assured it's coming, apparently in January."
"I spoke to Ricky just a few short days ago and he was so excited about the album he forgot to tell me what it was called so I really don't have much more information other than that particular song is out."
"And it is a duet with none other than the legendary Lita Ford."
"The song is called Don't Leave Me In The Dark."
"Good to have you back kiddo."
Gunshine
"Now if you were tuned in a few weeks ago you may remember I told a story about being on the road and somebody coming up to me and handing me a CD and saying hey you should really listen to this they're really good."
"Now this can be a very dangerous situation sometimes."
"Turns out on this particular occasion it was a wonderful thing."
"I played them, I really liked them."
"Here they are again."
"This is Gunshine."
"And before that we heard Gunshine, the band that I discovered when somebody just thrust the CD in my hand and thanks for doing that."
"This is actually from a follow-up EP from 2023 called Checkmate, the song we heard Swing Away."
Motley Crue
"They have just finished something that I believe will become a thing of legend."
"A week in Hollywood where they all started for them back in the early 80s."
"A night at the Troubadour, a night at the Roxy, a night at the Whisky-A-Go-Go and they also took over the Rainbow Bar and Grill."
"Now did they arrive in a limousine?."
"No they did not."
"They were unceremoniously tipped out of a dump truck on Santa Monica Boulevard, the night of the Troubadour show."
"Wonderful stuff."
"Well done Motley and a lot of it is going to charity so I applaud them for that."
"So I thought I'm going to play them this week from their greatest hits."
"That is a song called Afraid which I really like."
Mike Campbell
"Now here's a couple of songs that feature the wonderful talents of one, Mr Mike Campbell."
"Which features some absolutely wonderful guitar work by one, Mr Mike Campbell."
"who we heard before that with his lovely band The Dirty Knobs taken from their album, excuse me, taken from their album External Combustion."
"We heard Wicked Mind and indeed he must have one."
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
"From the official live bootleg EP from I think it was about 1978."
"That is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers with a fantastic live version of Fooled Again (I Don't Like It)."
"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."
"Coming up some absolutely epic Ian Hunter.
Ian Hunter
"And before that Ian Hunter from 1975, his debut solo album with some fantastic guitar work from the late great Mick Ronson."
"We heard The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth."
Sparks
"It's hard to believe that that album came out 50 years ago."
"Unbelievable stuff."
"It is Kimono My House, the band is Sparks, the song we heard Thank God It's Not Christmas."
"But Fear Not, it's on its way.."
Tyrannosaurus Rex
"Well Halloween is coming so maybe time to get out the cauldron, make up some Witch's Brew, put on your pointy hat."
"This is not exactly a Halloween song but you get my drift."
"This is Tyrannosaurus Rex."
"And before that we heard Tyrannosaurus Rex."
"Now I don't know about you but I can absolutely see and hear Steve Peregrine-Tuck and Mark Bolan sitting around in the studio with Tony Visconti stirring up some kind of brew to scare off the witches."
"From the succinctly titled Prophets, Seers and Sages the Angels of the Ages that is indeed Tyrannosaurus Rex with Salamander Palaganda."
"And if you know what one of those is please do let me know."
Utopia
"One of the few bands from the 70s along with Uriah Heap and Sweet that could remotely challenge Queen in the backing vocal department."
"That is Utopia featuring the fantastically talented Mr Todd Rundgren from 1977's Ra we just heard Jealousy."
Show Outro
"And that my friends is about it for this week."
"It's been a real pleasure as always."
"I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time so you know what I'm about to say."
"Don't go anywhere."
"Until then I shall leave you with this from his debut album Not Faking It back in 1989."
"This is Michael Monroe with Dead, Jail or Rock and Roll."
"Till next week, see ya!."
