Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock always a pleasure."

"You know that we've only got 60 minutes though one hour."

"So let's get cracking shall we from a very appropriately titled album called Too Much Too Soon."

"This is the New York Dolls."

New York Dolls

"Yes, a very appropriately titled album is too much too soon because not so long after that album was released in 1974 the band did indeed implode."

"But my goodness they left their mark because just two or three years later along with the Stooges, Iggy, of course MC 5, that band were the inspiration for punk and new wave."

"They are the New York Dolls from the album Too Much Too Soon."

"The song we heard was Babylon."

The Clash

"Okay, so let's hear a couple of songs that may well have been inspired by bands like the New York Dolls."

"This is The Clash."

"And before that we heard The Clash from their debut album back in 1970."

"I think the album was 77. I think their first single White Riot was 76. I think 77. Let's go with 77."

"The song that we heard Complete Control."

Buzzcocks

"Razor sharp and to the point but my goodness, there's some great melodies."

"That is the Buzzcocks taken from a compilation album of UK power punk called Harmony In My Head same title as the song itself in fact."

Pete Townshend

"Right then let's hand over to one of the original punks."

"This is Pete Townsend."

"From the UK a compilation album once again title track once again nothing to do with us."

"And before that we heard Pete Townsend wonderful stuff from the album Empty Glass with Rough Boys."

Jet

"A lovely slice of power punk right there just wonderful stuff."

"That's a band called Jets not to be confused with the Australian band."

"This is mid 70s Jet."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"Coming up we're gonna calm it all down a little bit with Peter Gabriel."

Peter Gabriel

"And before that Peter Gabriel amazing stuff from that first debut album."

"Which was produced by Bob Ezrin the song that we heard Here Comes The Flood."

Doctors Of Madness

"They're just coming off the back of some farewell tour dates."

"I don't think the tour is totally finished."

"Let's call it leg one of the farewell tour because I do believe there's more shows next year."

"It is the Doctors Of Madness from their debut album back in 1976."

"The album is Late Night Movies All Night Brainstorms the song we heard Billy Watch Out."

Stevie Nicks

"And here comes a very iconic and much sampled guitar lick played by the legendary Waddy Wachel."

"This is Stevie Nicks."

"And before that we heard the legend that is Stevie Nicks."

"Great friend of ours, stable mates, we shared a party together after the induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame five years ago."

"She's a wonderful woman."

"And I just thought I wanted to play her this week from the album Bella Donna the deluxe edition we heard Edge Of Seventeen."

Down 'N' Outz

"Now we all know that I don't normally play a song I've been associated with just because I can."

"Yeah, maybe if it's a brand new tune or it's a there's an anniversary or birthday involved."

"But I'm playing that this week for no other reason than the fact that it's in my head every morning."

"I've been waking up to that song and I thought well."

"There's only one way to stop that happening is to actually play it and let it go."

"That is the Down 'n' Outz from the 2014 album The Further Adventures Of it's Broadside Outcasts originally recorded by Mott on their second album shouting and Pointing."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week."

"It's been a real pleasure as always, but hey, you knew that already."

"I should be with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So do not go anywhere."

"Until then let's go out on this one one of my favourite albums by this particular band from 1975."

"The album is Siren the band is Roxy Music and this is Both Ends Burning."

"Until next week see ya."
