Show Intro
"Hello, my pretties. Welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show, right here on that magnificent thing that is Planet Rock."
"We've got one hour, 60 minutes to play some actually really pretty cool stuff tonight, I've got to say."
"Where are we going to start? Let's go by your side."
"This is the Black Crowes."
The Black Crowes
"Well obviously nobody does the Rolling Stones or the Faces as well as the Rolling Stones and the Faces do, but I tell you what, that band come pretty damn close, don't they?."
"Absolutely wonderful stuff. From the album, as I said, by your side, that is the Black Crowes with Kicking My Heart Around."
The Almighty
"Right, these next couple of songs literally take us from A to Z, and the only thing you can say about the snare drum sound on both of these songs is blimey."
"And before that, The Almighty featuring my good old mate Ricky Warwick from the album Blood, Fire And Love, with a song called Destroyed, both of those songs with totally over the top of their time snare drum sounds."
Zodiac Mindwarp
"I have to say, I used to love watching the video for Prime Mover back in the day when the guy comes flying into the church window and smashes the glass everywhere."
"That video was directed by Ade Edmondson of The Young Ones fame, as it happens."
"It is Zodiac Mindwarp from Tattooed Beat Messiah, the song Backseat Education."
The Cars
"So let's calm down and go to some nice clean phased tom-toms."
"This is The Cars."
"And before that, we heard The Cars from their debut album, which was produced by Queen's old producer, Roy Thomas Baker."
"Back in 1978, the song that we heard, You're All I've Got Tonight."
Queen
"I've said it before and no doubt I will say it again, but that guy is an incredible singer and he's the drummer."
"There's only a handful of them really that ever drum and sing."
"It's a very difficult thing to do both."
"When you think about the obvious ones, there's Phil Collins, there's Don Henley, there's one or two others out there."
"But for me, that guy ticks all the boxes and that guy is Roger Taylor."
"That is Queen from the album The Game with Rock It, brackets, Prime Jive, close brackets."
"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock."
"Coming up, the Grim Reaper's been back in town and we're going to pay tribute to one of the greatest saxophonist sidemen ever in rock."
David Bowie
"And before that, we heard David Bowie from the album Young Americans from the year before, 1975, with Somebody Up There Likes Me."
Ian Hunter
"I'm not even going to start listing off who he's played with."
"If you went on Wikipedia and had a look, you'd be astounded the amount of sessions that this guy's done for some incredible artists."
"I just picked two of my favourites there."
"He is David Sanborn, the saxophonist who passed away of cancer just a few days ago, played on."
"Absolutely wonderful, wonderful."
"We just heard him there from 1976 on Ian Hunter's second solo album, All American Alien Boy, with a title track."
Cheap Trick
"And I'm sure they do because he'll be playing saxophone on the old big white cloud in the great gig in the sky right now."
"Probably produced by the guy that recorded this."
"This is Cheap Trick."
"And before that, we heard Cheap Trick from the album In Colour, but not the original version of the album, no."
"This is a 1997 re-record of the entire album that was done by Steve Albini, who is sadly now the late Steve Albini because he died at the very young age of 61 just a few days ago."
"Best known for his work with The Likes of the Pixies, he produced Walking To Clarksdale for Page and Plant, and of course most famously Nirvana."
"But did we know that in 1997 he completely re-recorded the album In Colour and I thought I'd give that one a spin tonight."
"It is Cheap Trick. It is Big Eyes."
Sensational Alex Harvey Band
"From their odds and sods, tidy up album, The Penthouse Tapes, that is the Sensational Alex Harvey band with a great bit of work called Jungle Jenny."
Show Outro
"And that, my friends, is about it for this week."
"It's been a real pleasure as always, apart from the fact that the obituary part of the show always brings us down a bit, so let's bring it back up."
"Let's go back to 1976 to a standalone single that is now a bonus track available on the album Kitsch."
"It is the Heavy Metal Kids and Delirious."
"Until next week, see ya!."
