Show Intro

"Well, that's it then. We're done. I'm home. Seventeen months in total, that tour was. And we are done. And now we are thinking ahead to our next move. What are we going to do next? Nothing for a while. Bit of time off. Really looking forward to it. Really looking forward to this show. If you haven't guessed already, it's Joe Elliott on Planet Rock."

"And this week's show, thanks to the capillaries in my brain being opened up by a severe amount of jet lag, it's a bit of a grab bags with the songs from all areas of my brain. So roll up, roll up and get on board for the Magical Mystery Tour. This is The Beatles. ."

The Beatles

"Yes, fourteen hours to Doha in Qatar, three hour layover, eight hour flight to Dublin has put me in a certain mood because I don't know whether I'm coming or going. But I was listening to the Beatles re-release the 2023 versions of '62 to '66 and '67 to '70. And of course, happy as I am that they've released this new song. I'm also very happy that I was able to just play you a 2023 remix of that classic song, The Beatles and Magical Mystery Tour."

Motley Crue

"So as Def Leppard and Motley Crue said goodbye to each other just a few days ago, I thought I might not see them for a while, but I'm probably going to hear them pretty soon. Here they are."

"And before that, from their Greatest Hits Deluxe Edition. We heard Motley Crue, our touring partners for the last 17 months with Primal Scream."

Wishbone Ash

"That takes me back to some wonderful Sunday nights at the Improvisions Rock Club at the Top Rank Sheffield back in 1977/78/79. I think they were the three years I was actively going there on a weekly basis. That is from the album Argus. It is The Mighty Wishbone Ash with Blowin' Free."

Jeff Beck

"Right. Moving on to things a little more historical. Here are back to back two fantastic pieces of instrumental work by two of the greatest guitarists to ever walk this planet, starting off with the wonderful Jeff Beck."

"And before that, wonderful stuff from Jeff Beck, written by his good buddy Jimmy Page from the album Truth. It is Becks Bolero."

Mick Ronson

"Written by Richard Rogers, one of the greatest composers of the 20th century, that is Mick Ronson from his debut solo album back in 1974, the title track Slaughter on Tenth Avenue."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up some classic Mott The Hoople. But Ian Hunter is nowhere to be heard."

Mott The Hoople

"And before that, Mott The Hoople features some fantastic guitar work and a pretty good lead vocal as well by Mick Ralphs from the 1973 album Mott. We just heard I'm A Cadillac/El Camino Doloroso."

Hedwig And The Angry Inch

"If you have never seen the movie and you like things like the Rocky Horror Picture Show, I can highly recommend that you check out that movie from the soundtrack, the original soundtrack of the movie Hedwig and the Angry Inch. That is Midnight Radio. Fantastic bit of work."

Lou Reed

"So from something with a slightly Spanish flavour to something definitely German, specifically Berlin, this is Lou Reed."

"And before that, we heard Lou Reed from that wonderful 1973 album Berlin with Lady Day."

Keith Richards

"Hopefully, he's basking in the glory of yet another number one album right now. But that is Keith Richards' solo from 1988 from an album called Talk Is Cheap, the song Take It So Hard."

Show Outro

"And that, my friends, from a very jet-lagged Joe Elliott is about it for this particular show. It's been a real pleasure, as it always has been, as it always will be."

"But I've got one song left to play and after a 29-hour travel home from Melbourne, Australia to Dublin Ireland, I think this is the perfect way to put this show to bed."

"From their Come On Feel The Hits best of, this is Slade and Take Me Back Home. Until next week, see ya! ."
