Show Intro

"Evening all, and welcome once again to, oh yes, the Joe Elliott Show, right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"This week it is coming to you all the way from Minneapolis in Minnesota, which happens to be the birth town of Prince."

"And we are here on a day off. We have another day off tomorrow, the whole week heading off, it's fantastic."

"Big show on Monday night, but we've got a big show right now, 60 minutes worth of it."

"So let's get started on the Boulevard Of Broken Dreams with Hanoi Rocks."

Hanoi Rocks

"I remember seeing those guys back in 1984 at the Marquee Club in London and thought they were absolutely magnificent."

"As a young mid-twenties man, they were just like how I imagined it must have been to see the New York Dolls in 1973."

"They were absolutely fantastic, all glam and big guitars and loud vocals, it was wonderful stuff."

"And there they are, from the album Two Steps From The Move, we heard Boulevard Of Broken Dreams."

Von Hertzen Brothers

"Now of course, Hanoi Rocks, born in Finland, as were this next band, and I'm very honoured to say this is the first play of this particular song anywhere in the whole world."

"This is absolutely brand new, Von Hertzen Brothers."

"And before that, absolutely brand spanking, never heard before anywhere in the entire world, Von Hertzen Brothers."

"From their upcoming album In Murmuration, which is released in October, we just heard the song, and a wonderful bit of work it is too, boys, well done, Starlings."

Jack White

"I have to say, I'm really digging this new Jack White album, it's pretty much on constant repeat at the moment."

"The album is called No Name, the song that we just heard, That's How I'm Feeling."

Aerosmith

"Well, after last week's Mini Aerosmith Fest that I played, just celebrating the fact that there were a wonderful band who are no longer going to tour, I'm still kind of sad."

"And I'm still kind of stuck listening to them as well as Jack White, so here they are again."

"And before that, yes, I'm still very sad that Aerosmith are no longer going to be touring."

"Celebrated their music last week, but I'm still listening and I'm still sad."

"So I wanted to play them again this week."

"And as we know, there's two Aerosmiths, there's the 70s Aerosmith and then there's the post-MTV Aerosmith."

"I was a bigger fan of their latter-day stuff more than the earlier stuff."

"I love the earlier stuff, but I really, really like their latter-day stuff."

"They kind of pushed the boat out, got very adventurous with their arrangements."

"And there from the album Nine Lives we just heard a wonderful bit of work called Hole In My Soul."

Elton John

"What a wonderful bit of work that is, I've always been a huge fan of that song, from his 1970 eponymously titled album Elton John, Who Else Could It Be?."

"The song is 60 Years On."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"This week coming to you all the way from Minneapolis in Minnesota."

"Coming up, did you really think that I wouldn't play him?."

Prince

"And before that, all 8 minutes and 45 seconds of it."

"Absolutely phenomenal."

"No matter what you think, he was an incredible rock guitar player and wrote some wonderful songs, and I'm in Minneapolis, so I'm playing Prince."

"And there we just heard the title track of that amazing album, Purple Rain."

Uriah Heep

"When it comes to 70s bands that could really sing, and like every member of the band really joined in, I'm thinking like Queen and Sweet."

"For some reason, your eye-heaps sometimes just get forgotten about, which is a real shame, because they could hold their own against anybody."

"And that is a great example."

"From the album Sweet Freedom we just heard Stealin'."

Giuda

"Right, let's go live for a couple of tracks now, shall we?."

"A couple of tracks where the number 10 is very prominent."

"Starting off with Italy's Glam Kings, this is Guida."

"And before that, and it's the same thing, you would be forgiven if you only ever read about this band, thinking that they're called Guida, but it's actually pronounced Judah."

"They're Italian, and they're glam-tastic, and they're live at the punk rock Raduno we just heard, Number 10."

Cheap Trick

"We've done a handful of gigs this summer with those guys, when they stood in for Steve Miller when he wasn't available."

"And we've got a few more coming up, which I'm really looking forward to, because they are one of my favorite ever bands."

"They never let you down."

"They are Cheap Trick."

"And they're from the legendary album that is live at the Budokan, and here's where pronunciation and knowledge is king."

"I really think it should be live at the Bu-do-kan."

"It sounds sexier, it sounds more Japanese, but it's not Bu-do-kan, it's Bu-do-kun."

"So there you go."

"The song is Clock Strikes Ten."

Show Outro

"And that, my friends, all the way from Minneapolis in Minnesota, is about it for this week."

"It's been a real pleasure, as always."

"I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time, all the way from Los Angeles in California."

"So until then, let's head off to the East End of London."

"From the album of the same name, this is Hustler."

"And here's my best ever impersonation of Phil Collen."

"The song Get Outta My House."

"Terrible."

"Till next week. See ya!."
