Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show, right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"This week it's coming to you all the way from Miami in Florida."

"We've got 60 minutes to play some wonderful music and to go over the last 7 days or so because it's been pretty hectic in the world of rock and roll and in Def Leppard land."

"I went down with a upper respiratory infection in Boston and I couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo."

"My voice was all over the place but thank goodness two doctors later and I'm on the mend."

"There's a sickness in the camp but we are plowing through."

"And as we arrived in Boston last week the news was just starting to break that a specific band from that area had decided after 51 years of entertaining us to actually hang up their touring boots."

"And we are going to celebrate them tonight starting and finishing with Aerosmith."

Aerosmith

"Yes I had a temporary set back last week."

"But it would appear that Steven Tyler has a much more severely long term problem with his voice and has decided to retire altogether from touring because he's been waiting and waiting and waiting."

"And obviously seen loads of doctors and done lots of therapy and he's just not coming back so they've decided to retire from the road which is very sad."

"So I would just like to say on behalf of all rock fans hopefully Aerosmith fans out there listening to Joey Kramer to Tom Hamilton to Brad Whitford to Joe Perry and to Steven Tyler collectively Aerosmith as I did on the night of the show."

"Thank you for your service half a century over 50 years of music what a fantastic band one of the greatest American rock and roll bands of all time Aerosmith."

"And we just heard them there from the album Rocks with Back In The Saddle."

Ian Hunter

"Well before all this illness kicked in when we landed in Boston myself and Mike the band's manager took a road trip about two and a half hours up to Connecticut to go and visit this gentleman."

"And before that we heard Ian Hunter who myself and Mike went to visit when we landed in Boston he lives in Connecticut."

"Mike our Def Leppard manager also manages Ian Hunter and we went up there for a bit of a chin wag few cups of tea."

"We went for an Indian meal and more chin wagging and more tea it was a really nice evening and then we drove all the way back to Boston."

"So I thought I should play one of his songs and yes from his latest album Defiance Part 2."

"A song which actually features myself and Robin Zander from Cheap Trick on backing vocals."

"The song is People."

Foo Fighters

"From their first album since the sad passing of Taylor Hawkins that is the Foo Fighters drums played very admirably of course by one Dave Grohl."

"The album is But Here We Are the song that we heard Under You."

Cheap Trick

"And talking of Cheap Trick."

"And before that we heard the wonderful Cheap Trick from an album called The Latest which of course it isn't because it was actually released in 2008."

"But it is a wonderful album the song that we heard Closer the ballad of Bert and Linda."

Neil Young

"Taken from the greatest hits collection that is Neil Young featuring Crazy Horse with Cinnamon Girl."

"In my humble opinion one of the greatest things he ever wrote."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"Coming up I cannot tell a lie it's completely inspired by watching the Olympics for the last two weeks."

10CC

"And before that inspired absolutely 100% by waking up every day and turning on the TV to put on the Olympics to watch all those wonderful sports being played especially the ladies beach volleyball."

"Oh come on it's a wonderful sport."

"It's 10CC from 1975 also the album is original soundtrack the song that we heard or to you and I One Night In Paris."

America

"So there's a wonderful back story to the song that we just heard way back in 1975 the acoustic trio America played a sold-out show 21,000 people at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles with orchestra which was directed and conducted by Sir George Martin the producer of The Beatles."

"Now for some unfathomable reason the record company back then decided not to release the album."

"But hurrah it's finally seeing the light of day it's out now and if you like that kind of thing I highly recommend it."

"Wonderful stuff so I thought I would play that song that we all know and love Horse With No Name."

AC/DC

"Right then in the immortal words of me let's rock."

"And before that I've not played this for a long time if ever ACDC from 1981 the album is For Those About To Rock."

"The song Put The Finger On You."

Pat Travers

"I have no doubt mentioned this on a previous show but when Def Leppard first got together we used to play that song."

"It was one of the first songs that we learned to play after Suffragette City actually."

"We were all kind of madly in love with the second Pat Travers album Makin' Magic from which that song comes from."

"The song is Rock And Roll Susie."

Show Outro

"And that my friends all the way from Miami in Florida is about it for this week."

"Been a real pleasure and just glad I could get through it."

"Last week I would have been really struggling."

"So I will be back with you next week at exactly the same time from Minneapolis, Minnesota home of the late great Prince."

"Until then I shall leave you with this we started with them and we shall finish with them."

"As I mentioned at the top of the show one of the greatest ever American rock bands."

"This once again is Aerosmith title track of the album Draw The Line."

"Until next week see ya!."
