Show Intro

"Greetings, everyone, and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show, right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"Coming to you this week all the way from Boston in Massachusetts, where we are almost halfway through this tour."

"It has flown by, but you know what they say, when you're having fun, time does fly."

"And time's flying already, because we've only got 60 minutes, so let's get on with it."

"This is Dr. Feelgood."

Dr Feelgood

"Cracking stuff there from Dr. Feelgood, who I saw live a bunch of times back in the mid to late 70s, and they never let you down."

"Always referred to as pub rock, but they were so much bigger than that."

"I saw them at the City Hall, for goodness sake, about two or three times."

"It was just great R&B, whether it be with Wilko Johnson or with Gypie, and there we heard them with Gypie, actually."

"Take it from the Singled Out collection."

"It is, she's a wind-up."

"Right, let's go for a ride."

"This is Motor Sister."

Motor Sister

"And before that we heard Motor Sister from an album called Ride."

"Now Motor Sister is a great, great band, features Scotty from Anthrax, his good lady wife, who happens to be the daughter of Meat Loaf, and the very talented Jim Wilson."

"The song is This Song Reminds Me Of You."

Montrose

"Sammy Hagar is out on the road doing what Sammy Hagar does best, which is entertain people."

"What a band he's got."

"Jason Bonham on drums, Michael Anthony from Van Halen on bass, Joe Satriani on guitar."

"And of course, Sammy up front and centre doing what Sammy does best."

"And can you believe this?."

"Just a couple of days ago we missed him by a day, and I didn't find out until the morning after that he'd been playing the night before, which was a day off for us."

"I could have gone, albeit 40 miles away would have been well worth the drive."

"So I'm going to check on his schedule and see if I can catch him somewhere down the road, because I'd love to see him live one more time."

"But there he is with his original band Montrose from 1974."

"The album is Paper Money, the song once covered by Iron Maiden. I Got The Fire."

Sparks

"And talking of Jim Wilson, I met him for the very first time in 2008 when he was moonlighting for these guys and playing this actual lick."

"And before that we heard Sparks all the way back to 1974."

"The album is Kimono My House, the song we heard, Amateur Hour."

The Rolling Stones

"Now I know that this is a very brave statement to make in the year 2024, but I genuinely, genuinely believe that that is one of the greatest songs that the Rolling Stones have ever produced."

"Featuring Stevie Wonder on keyboards and co-lead vocals by Lady Gaga and Mick Jagger."

"That is from the album Hackney Diamonds."

"The song is Sweet Sounds Of Heaven."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show all the way from Boston in Massachusetts this week."

"Coming up, we're going to go across the water to meet up with that madman that is Elton John."

"But there's a twist."

Elton John

"And before that we heard Elton John with the title track of the album Madman Across The Water."

"But it isn't the version that was on the original album."

"This was an abandoned performance featuring Mick Ronson on guitar."

"And I think it's absolutely amazing."

"You can get it these days as a bonus track on the Deluxe Edition."

John Kongos

"Now a die-hard Def Leppard fan will know that we covered that once in 2006 on the Year album."

"And it was also done a few years before then by the Happy Mondays and they rechristened it Step On."

"But that is the original version from 1971."

"It is John Kongos from the album Kongos with He's Gonna Step On You Again."

New York Dolls

"Right, here's a couple of bands back to back that really knew how to have a good time."

"And they did not influence a lot of people, especially when punk came to town."

"One US and one the best of British."

"Let's start off with the Americans."

"This is the New York Dolls."

"And before that from their eponymously titled debut album in 1973 I believe it was."

"And they again, another band that were a huge influence on the likes of Glenn Matlock and the rest of the Sex Pistols and a lot of the punk movement."

"It was the New York Dolls with Personality Crisis."

Faces

"Absolutely killer stuff there from the Faces."

"Now, if you ever get the chance to meet Glenn Matlock and talk about the Faces, he will talk your face off for about two or three days."

"He loves them that much, as do I, as did loads of people."

"Absolutely brilliant party band from the album Ooh La La, we just said Borstal Boys."

Show Outro

"And that my dear friends all the way from Boston in Massachusetts is about it for this week."

"It's been a real pleasure as always, but hey, you knew that."

"I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time all the way from Miami in Florida."

"So until then I shall leave you with this from the 1979 album Night Out produced by Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson."

"This is Ellen Foley with a fantastic cover of a Graham Parker And The Rumour song called Thunder And Rain."

"Till next week, see ya!."
