Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott show right here on, you got it, the wonderful Planet Rock. What have we got for you tonight. 60 minutes, one hour of actually pretty bonkerzoid tonight. It's all over the place musically. There's some standard stuff. But there's some very non standard stuff. Let's get this show on the road shall we. They're not from Australia. They're from the UK. This is Jet."

Jet

"Yes I'm sure we're all familiar with the Australian band Jet. But did you know there was a band from the UK in the mid 70s called Jet. I saw them open for Hunter-Ronson back in 1975 and they actually featured future Ian Hunter keyboard played Peter Oxendale. Who would play with Ian two years later on the Overnight Angels album. Also featured Davey O'List, once of The Nice and almost a member of Roxy Music. And there's also a connection to Sparks which you could probably hear in that tune. It is the title track of their box set Nothing To Do With Us."

Sparks

"And talking of Sparks."

"And before that we heard Sparks from 1974. From their debut album for Island Records. But actually their third album. The album is Kimono My House. The song we heard Thank God It's Not Christmas. But it's not far off is it."

T. Rex

"Originally released as a B-Side of the wonderful Metal Guru. One of two tracks on the B-Side actually. The other one being a song called Lady. That is T. Rex from 1972 with Thunderwing."

Supertramp

"Yeah that's right. Bloody well right."

"And before that we actually heard Supertramp. Possibly a band that influenced them. From that 1974 album produced by Ken Scott, Crime Of The Century. We heard the B-Side of Dreamer. Bloody Well Right."

Split Enz

"Told you it was a bit bonkerzoid this week. That is Split Enz. This is the pre-Pop group Split Enz. The skinny Tie 1981 version it is not. This is the 1976 version that I saw open for Jack The Lad. Which was a spin off band from Lindisfarne. When they played the City Hall in Sheffield. And I have to say Split Enz were absolutely outstanding. They were completely mad. It wasn't exactly KISS kabuki make-up. But it wasn't far off. But their music was a great mixture of Supertramp, Genesis. Any of that kind of Prog Rock stuff. With a bit of pop thrown in. It was very intriguing. And interesting mix and the album is Mental Notes. Which I won in a competition out of one of the weekly rags back in those days. And the song we heard Stranger Than Fiction."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up, we're off to visit the Psycho Circus with KISS."

KISS

"And before that we heard KISS. From when the original four piece reformed back in 1998 the album came out. We heard the title track Psycho Circus."

Alice Cooper

"Now I loves me a bit of Alice. You all know that, I play him a lot on my show. But I chose this particular song purely for the title. This unseasonably warm weather we've been having recently has been encouraging those little vermin to fall out of the sky at an alarming rate. Thank god for the therapeutic values of vacuuming, because I've been having to do it all week. Alice Cooper. The album is Paranormal. The song Dead Flies."

Faces

"Right then, Rack 'em. And chalk your cue. This is Rod Stewart and the Faces."

"And before that we heard the Faces. Lone gone of course but the song lives on forever. From a collection called Snakes And Ladders we heard Pool Hall Richard."

Aerosmith

"Wonderful stuff from their 1976 album Rocks. That is Aerosmith with Home Tonight. And they certainly are sadly because Steven's lost his voice. They've had to cancel all their shows. So hurry up and get well mate because we miss you out there."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time.

"So until then I shall leave you with this. Something that we shall be dreaming of probably the next few months no doubt because this unseasonably nice weather is about to come to an end. So if you want some of this we're gonna have to jump on a plane and fly off to warmer climbs. From the collection Mania. This is the Ramones and Rockaway Beach. Until next week see ya!."
