DEF LEPPARD's POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME Drastic Symphonies Version Features Emm Gryner
Def Leppard's new Drastic Symphonies version of Pour Some Sugar On Me features Emm Gryner and will be issued as a single.
The new album Drastic Symphonies will be released on Friday 19th May.
The album will feature 16 classic Def Leppard songs reworked and reimagined with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios in London.
The first single 'Animal' was released the same day and the new version of Hysteria followed on 5th May.
PSSOM Stripped Version/Emm Gryner
The Stripped Version of 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' has now been revealed to feature Emm Gryner on piano and vocals.
Emm revealed the news on her website on 27th April saying the - album "and single" come out 19th May.
This suggests a full promo video or a visualiser video will be released on 19th May.
The two songs so far were Instant Grat tracks so no separate release for a single with cover artwork is likely.
Emm has recorded new vocals and piano with Joe also recording new vocals for this updated version.
Emm becomes the second female vocalist to duet with Joe on a Def Leppard track after Alison Krauss' appearance on two songs for the 'Diamond Star Halos' album.
Classic Rock Review
This version has also been mentioned in a new review by Classic Rock magazine.
This month's edition also features full page adverts for the album, tour and the Definitely book.
The book is also reviewed and gets good reviews mostly for the older material inside it from the 70s/80s.
Cover Of A Cover
The original version of 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' by Emm Gryner was released in 2001 and included on her album 'Girl Versions' and also on the 2012 'The Best Of Emm Gryner'.
Joe mentioned it online at the time and that the rest of the band had heard it and were "drooling".
This will be the first time the band has effectively covered a cover of their own song.
Listen to Emm's own recording below.
Emm released her new album 'Business & Pleasure' on 14th April including the singles 'Jack' and 'Burn The Boats'.
Joe and Emm's album project (said to be in the style of David Bowie's 'Hunky Dory' album) from around ten years ago still shows no sign of a release.

Classic Rock Magazine Drastic Symphonies Album - May 2023 Review Quotes
Pour Some Sugar On Me (Stripped Version)
"It turns out that what 'works best' is a moveable feast."
"Drastic Symphonies works best when there's re-invention: Pour Some Sugar On Me is one of several tracks for which Joe Elliott has re-done his vocals."
"Now, it's a snail's-paced duet with Emm Gryner (of both Leppard support act Trapper and David Bowie's band)."
"Once lascivious - even when the band played it with Taylor Swift - Elliott and Gryner turn it inside out, and the version here is a rueful lament."

"Co-starring work with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, one of London's leading orchestras."
