DEF LEPPARD Live In Virginia Beach, VA 2025 (Show Report/Setlist)

Def Leppard played a 2025 tour show last night in Virginia Beach, VA with 18 songs performed.

The show took place at the 20,000 capacity Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater at Virginia Beach.

Another outdoor amphitheatre show.

The first visit to this city since August 2018.

Return To Virginia Beach

From the indoor casino venue in Hollywood, Florida the band moved back up the East Coast to Virginia Beach in Virginia.

And back once more to an outdoor amphitheatre venue which has been played many times since 1996.

The interestingly named - 'Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater at Virginia Beach'.

Or 'Vets United Home Loans Amp' for short...or even '#vabeachamp'.

A very typical 'shed' like venue with a roof and like Milwaukee and others, multiple video screens on the back of the roof for fans on the lawn.

Three big ones in fact.

After a strange mix of venues the band came back to a very familiar one to them to end the main leg of Summer Tour 2025.

Like other outdoor smphitheatre venues this one is surrounded by trees.

And, despite the name, not actually on a beach but around five ro six miles from the actual Virginia Beach coastline.

As described by Rick Allen, they had great weather for this last night of the current run.

And they had a band returning from earlier in the tour.

A band they first played on the same bill with back in London, England at Wembley Stadium in April 1992.

33 Years ago at the Freddie Mercury Tribute show.

And they would 'sort of' repeat something they did at that show at the end of their set.

Extreme

After appearing before them at the big festival in Quebec City in Canada in July, Extreme were back for a second time.

This time supporting the band at a Def Leppard headline show for the first time.

The last of the seven shows that were announced at the same time with the same (very cool) triangle logo poster designs and the only one to feature Extreme.

They started earlier than the advertised 8pm start time at around 7:55pm and played nine original songs.

These included recent singles '#REBEL' and 'Rise' plus some hits from the 90s in 'More Than Words' and 'Hole Hearted'.

As they have at their own shows recently, the band also played a medley of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath songs at the end of their set.

A throwback to their brilliant Queen medley at the Freddie Mercury Tribute show in 1992.

And, according to a watching Rick Allen, they were 'extremely' loud on stage.

Goodbye From Rick (But Not For Good)

Rick was in a good mood and posted another backstage pre show video after watching a bit of Extreme.

Rick - "Virginia, beautiful weather. It's actually our last show for a little while."

Rick - "Next show we do is gonna be in London in England. Actually Chelmsford, to be clear."

Rick - "So Extreme are on stage at the moment. Great band, but they are so friggin' loud man, I couldn't stay up there. It's really quite loud."

Rick - "And yes! there will be rock!."

Rick - "It was cool, great tour. and thank everybody for coming out to see us."

Rick - "And yeah it's been great and just really appreciate all of you guys and your support."

As Rick noted, the next show is indeed 'not' in London.

Last Night In Virginia

A 9:20pm start like the other recent outdoors shows and the band were right into 'Rock! Rock!'.

Rocking Virginia Beach for the first time in seven years.

And the entire show was broadcast (with some of the band's music and vocals audible at times...).

It was clear the band were in a good mood and ready to give the fans another great show as the tour came to an end.

Joe made his first mention of the last night before the usual start to 'Let's Get Rocked'.

"The last night of this particular leg of the tour. So let's make this something special yeah?." - and the fans responded by singing along to the song.

Loud singing that continued through the rest of the show including the acoustic section.

Joe also taking some time to talk about this being the final show of this run and to thank Extreme for supporting them.

Unlike earlier in the summer this show was played almost all in darkness and with the three extra big screens giving the fans on the lawn multiple views of the showm close up, and from afar.

'PSSOM' ended this show for the last time, for a little while, as another crowd sang along almost as loudly as the band played.

Once again acknowledged at the end by Joe who was clearly impressed by this "amazing" crowd.

Then it was all over and now no more shows here until the one-off visit to Gary, Indiana in October.

Which comes one month after the next show that sees them back home in England.

And live on the radio across the UK and the world on BBC Radio 2 at 8:15pm UK time.

Closely followed by the TV version at 10:50pm on BBC Two (which is just for us in the UK).

A few days off now for the band and a little trip across the Atlantic.

And before that (and interrupting someone writing a show report...) a UK/European tour announcement, also involving Extreme.

Who as you can see below got a lot of thanks from Joe who of course knew that this announcement would be coming.

18 Song Setlist

A 18 song setlist was played.

'Just Like '73' and 'This Guitar' were both played here for the first time

Virginia Beach History

The first visit to Virginia Beach was in July 1996 on the Slang tour.

That show was also the first show at this amphitheatre, then called the Virginia Beach Amphitheatre, and played in the year that it first opened.

Despite not playing this city until the Slang tour it has since become one of the most played venues and the only one ever played in the city.

They first returned in September 2000 on the Euphoria tour for the first of five venue name changes over the years.

It was played for three tours and three years in a row in 2005, 2006, 2007.

Further shows took place in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015.

The last visit here was in August 2018 with Journey when both 'When Love & Hate Collide' and 'Man Enough' were played here for the first time.

Last night's show was the 12th performance in Virginia Beach.

The next Def Leppard show takes place in Chelmsford, England on 7th September.
