Def Leppard played a 2025 tour show last night in Edmonton, AB with 18 songs performed.

The show took place at the 20,000 capacity Exhibition Lands Racetrack.

The second show of the Rockin' Thunder music festival series.

The first show in this city since September 2022.

Return To Edmonton

Moving on from Manitoba to Alberta and a return to a city played only three years ago on The Stadium Tour.

That show played at the giant Commonwealth Stadium in September 2022 right at the end of the tour.

This show saw them return to a location first played back in July 1983.

That show played at Northlands Coliseum which still stands on the same complex as the Exhibition Lands Racetrack.

Last night's show being played within the racetrack itself, or actually at one end of it with around 20,000 fans in attendance.

The arena is now called Northlands Coliseum again having been played s total of seven times by the band before it's closure in 2018.

But last night was another outdoor show played in good weather.

The only thunder being the type provided by Rick Allen on stage.

The second of the two 'Rockin' Thunder' shows.

Support Bands

At with the last visit to this city on The Stadium Tour two of the same acts were also on this bill.

The return of Bret Michaels, playing Poison hits as a solo artist, and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts who first played with Def Leppard 25 years ago on the Euphoria tour with many shows played in Canada including Edmonton.

Canadian band Toque played a second show in a row.

Old friends Queensryche opened the event at the very early time of 2:30pm.

Only two band members remain from the one that played with Def Leppard on the 1988 Hysteria tour.

Bassist Eddie Jackson and guitarist Michael Wilton are still in the band who played many songs from the 'Operation Mindcrime' album they were touring with in 1988.

Rockin' Thunder Part Two

If online information is to be believed up to 20,000 fans packed the field inside the racetrack for Def Leppard's headline set.

Starting at around 9pm and espite being in a field many of the fans were seated.

At first it was hard to tell they were onstage as this was one of the quietest shows yet for online posts by fans.

In fact there were only two by the end of the show.

Fortunately someone broadcast at least four songs from the front row with an unobstructed view of the band.

They sounded in great form again.

From 'Rock! Rock!' to 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' Edmonton got Rocked.

But sadly we didn't get to see too much of this rock.

Hopefully next time we will.

And there will be a next time tomorrow as they head over to Craven, SK.

Heading further west into Saskatchewan and further away from East Coast time...(great!).

This time for "Country" Thunder but hopefully more rock.

18 Song Setlist

An 18 song setlist was played.

'Just Like '73' was played here for the first time.

Edmonton History

The first visit to Edmonton was in July 1983 on the Pyromania tour at Northlands Coliseum.

This venue would be played again for two In The Round shows in 1988/1992.

The Slang tour in 1996 saw two shows, one at Northlands Coliseum, and a secret club show the night before at Thunderdome sponsored by Molson.

The next two visits in 2000 and 2003 would be played at Shaw Conference Centre.

They then returned to Northlands under the new name of Rexall Place in 2005, 2007 and 2015.

Two shows were then played at Rogers Place arena in 2017 and 2019.

The last visit came in September 2022 on The Stadium Tour which was their first one outdoors in the city.

Last night's show was the 14th performance in Edmonton.

The next Def Leppard show takes place in Craven, SK on 13th July.
