40 Years Ago DEF LEPPARD Bring PYROMANIA To AMERICAN BANDSTAND (Video)

Def Leppard performed for the only time on American Bandstand on this day in 1983 and archive video footage is available.

The show was broadcast on 21st May 1983 but had been taped in late April prior to the start of their tour with Billy Squier.

The band performed playback versions of 'Rock Of Ages' and then current single 'Photograph'.

'Photograph' reached a peak of Number 12 on the main Billboard Hot 100 chart on the same day.

This TV appearance and heavy radio airplay helped prolong the success of the 'Pyromania' album and tour in North America for the rest of 1983.

The album had reached Number 2 a week earlier and was still there when this show aired.

Joe was briefly interviewed by the late Dick Clark between songs. This footage was uploaded by the show on their YT channel a few years ago.
