RICK ALLEN Says DEF LEPPARD's Digital Rights Deal Has Been Done
Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen appeared on New York television earlier today and spoke about the band's digital music rights.
Rick spoke to Squawk 'n' Roll on CNBC TV in New York, NY ahead of his two art shows in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Rick talked (when not cut off) about his artwork, the Steve Clark Legends painting, the Hysteria tour, his return to drumming, PTSD, working with veterans, music streaming/live music, digital rights and old or new music he likes.
Rick suggested that the band's digital music rights have finally been sorted with a new deal agreed with their old record company (Universal Records). But also said they were still trying to work things out.
This follows signs from Joe back in August 2017 that things were changing and the band's music would become available digitally. 'Adrenalize' is currently available digitally but only on Amazon USA.
This deal could pave the way for the band's older albums becoming available again on Spotify. The first four albums plus 'YEAH!' and the UK 'Best Of' have all previously been available but only for a day or two before being removed.
In the last few years both Metallica and AC/DC have struck digital deals and have had their entire catalogues made available for streaming.

Sqwauk 'n' Roll - Rick Allen Interview Quotes
Steve Clark Painting
"The Steve Clark piece in particular, that's the one I'm most proud of. And the fact that I sent a photograph of it to my mother and she keeps in touch with Steve's family and she took it round there. She made a little print of it and took it round there and Steve's mother was there with tears rolling down her cheek. So it obviously had the desired effect."
New Music His Likes/Old Favourites
"That's another good question. Our record company finally came to the table and we sorted out the digital rights and I hope that that will be available soon."
What's behind the scenes? Are you allowed to talk about any of that?
"Not really. It is, it's been a personally annoyance of mine for a long time and you know when we first made a lot of these records digital didn't exist. So there was never any provision out in there. So we're trying to work that out."
