106.1 The Corner/Pat Gallagher - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

Live From Detroit DVD

"We actually felt the need to revisit the concert video. We had VIVA! Hysteria which was the live show of that in Vegas at a theatre but the actual concert footage you know. With big lights and a sold out show in a bigger place. You know there was I think 19,000, 17 of 19,000 people in Detroit. It was the first show to sell out on that tour and Detroit has always been great to us so we figured it was kind of a no brainer to just use that as the basis for the one concert."

"So yeah it was thrilling. It was great. It turned out wonderful and the reason we done it is everyone kept saying; 'This is the best tour we've ever seen you guys on' So it was more of a, we had to document it really."

David Bowie/Cybernauts

"I think to individuals, especially me and Joe. You know we actually done a tour and an album called the Cybernauts which was Bowie's original band. It was Trevor Bolder on bas and Woody Woodmansey on drums. They're the ones who played on all the Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Hunky Dory and we actually done all of those songs.. We covered those songs and actually toured with it and that was fantastic. Since then we've actually lost Trevor Bolder as well but it was so much fun and a life changing experience."

"I think you know my cousin got me into Zeppelin and Hendrix and stuff like that. But there was something unique about the Bowie stuff at the time. I remember being 14 and thinking this guy's writing songs for me you know. This is our generation. This is our music and all of that stuff. So it had a very personal thing especially as a 14 year old. You're a sponge, you're kind of getting all this in and you just relate to it on a very specific level. A time and a place and then to see him on TV was just mindblowing."

"So for me and for Joe especially, Bowie was very, very special."
