It was opened in March 2007 as Vector Arena.

Since 2017 it has been called Spark Arena.

Before 'TSB' Joe mentioned it was the home of Split Enz and Crowded House prompting Vivian to play a verse and chorus of Crowded House classic 'Better Be Home Soon'.
