Show Intro

"Greetings one and all and welcome once again to, yes, The Joe Elliott Show right here on the magnificent Planet Rock. Hope you're all well. Great to be with you again. Tickets went on sale yesterday for the Def Leppard/Motley Crue stadium extravaganza that's happening next year. Hope you're as excited about it as we are. We've got plenty of time to talk about that over the next month or seven. So let's get on with tonight's show as we only have 60 little minutes. Here is some magnificent UFO."

UFO

"It's funny what you remember as a kid isn't it. I was up at my friend Andy's house in a n area of Sheffield called Crosspool. And we were listening to the Alan Freeman show on Saturday and I'm guessing Sheffield United must have been away from home that week. And he played that song, the opening track of the show. And it would have been what 1976. Why do I remember that? because it's such a fantastic tune. And was such a massive influence on me as a kid. And in fairness on the whole of Def Leppard when we first got together. Wonderful wonderful band. The album is No Heavy Pettin'. The song we heard, the opening track of said album, Natural Thing."

Woody Woodmansey's U-Boat

"Now this next guy is a living legend because of hid association with David Bowie and myself and Phil were so blessed to be able to work with him and Trevor Bolder in the Cybernauts. his is Woody Woodmansey's U-Boat."

"And before that Woody Woodmansey's U-Boat who I saw down at the Sheffield Top Rank in 1976. And there was about 60,70 kids down at the front all looking like Ziggy Stardust. It was quite entertaining to say the least. Because obviously a lot of Bowie fans followed the splinter if you like. They followed Mick Ronson with the Hunter Ronson Band. Trevor Bolder in Uriah Heep maybe. But definitely Woody Woodmansey's U-Boat and there from the debut and actually only album they ever released. We heard the song Movie Star."

New York Dolls

"I absolutely adore that band. It is the New York Dolls from their second album Too Much Too Soon with a track called It's Too Late."

The Vapors

"Right here's a couple of what you'd call classic one hit wonders. That couldn't be any more different. Starting off with The Vapors."

"And before that The Vapors produced by Bruce Foxton of The Jam. And oddly enough the guy that sang it looked exactly like Bruce Foxton of The Jam/ It is of course The Vapors with Turning Japanese."

Ram Jam

"Yes their one and only hit I believe anywhere. I don't think they had a second or a third hit even in the USA. That is American Ram Jam as they often known. It was Ram Jam because I'm guessing because there were two bands of the same name and one of them was from the UK. They came the American Ram Jam. The song it' an old Leadbelly tune called Black Betty."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up we're off to visit the psych ward with Patient Number 9."

Ozzy Osbourne

"And before that we heard brand new Ozzy Osbourne. God bless and congratulations on a number one album with Patient Number 9. We just heard the title track there which features Jeff Beck. And this album is absolutely loaded with guests. Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, obviously Zakk Wylde makes an appearance. And Mike McCready from Pearl Jam. It's a really good album. Really well produced by the new kid on the block Andrew Watt who also did his last album which featured a duet with Elton John. but there's Ozzy with the title track of his current an absolute top class album Patient Number 9."

The Who

"As I'm still in California taking care of some business, I'm off to see The Who in a couple of days time 'cause they're playing the Hollywood Bowl with a full orchestra. Now I've seen The Who many many times. But I've never seen them with an orchestra. So I'm really looking forward to this show. Meeting up with Phil for it actually. I wonder if they'll play that song. Probably not. Which is a real shame 'cause it's a great bit of work. It is from the 1971 album Who's Next. It is Bargain."

Joan Jett And The Blackhearts

"Now here's a couple of ladies that are very close to my heart but for slightly different reasons. One of them I'm just a huge fan and the other one we've worked together so many times I just admire her immensely. This is Joan Jett."

"And before that Joan Jett And The Blackhearts. From an album called Up Your Alley. With a wonderful ballad called Little Liar."

Fleetwood Mac

"If you were tuned in a couple of weeks ago you may remember that I mentioned that I'd seen Stevie Nicks at the Hollywood Bowl just a couple of weeks ago. Which this venue seems to becoming my new stomping ground having seen - in may I saw Steely Dan and I saw Stevie. Couple of days time I'm gonna go and see The Who. But there she is with the mothership Fleetwood Mac. From that album that is Rumours. What an album. The song Gold Dust Woman. And what a song."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time. As you well know. With more of the same only just a little bit different.

"So until then I shall leave you with this wonderful bit of work. From an album called Earth vs. The Wildhearts. There's your clue. This is indeed The Wildhearts with TV Tan. Till next week see ya!."
