Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. And If I sound rather over excited of course because as you possibly have already heard we just announced the British tour for 2023. Sheffield, London, Lytham, Glasgow. And of course Dublin in Ireland. So excited to be able to bring this tour with Motley over to see you guys and play in front of a lot of people. It's gonna be a big big night and a big tour. Really looking forward to that and of course let's not gorget this. I'm so much looking forward to the next one hour of music that I have lined up for you. Starting off with Aerosmith."

Aerosmith

"Yes 45 years. Almost 46 by the time we get there. We're gonna be starting our European tour off in the city where it all began. All those years ago. Back in July of 1978 when we played Westfield School in front of a handful of kids. Followed pretty quickly by a field in Burngreave in front of 10 men and a dog. Followed by opening for the Human League at The Limit Club. Yes folks it's a mighty long way down rock and roll. But what a journey it has been and remains to be. And we're really looking forward of course also to London. Lytham, To Glasgow and Dublin. It's gonna be a fantastic time. Motley Crue as well. It's gonna be a big loud brash rock show. Which is what we all love isn't it. As is the rest of this show about 56 minutes of it left I believe. We just started the show off with wonderful band from Boston in MA. They are Aerosmith. Title track of their album Nine Lives."

Eddie Vedder

"Right let's check in with the earthling that is Eddie Vedder."

"And before that we heard Eddie Vedder. Fantastic solo record. We will be hearing a song from that in my end of year review best of 2022. It's a great album. The song we heard, the Power Of Right."

Thunder

"Nice to see Luke Morley updating us somewhat on the progress if you like of Danny Bowes. I don't think any of us know what happened. But all we can do is wish him well. It's very traumatic to hear what may have happened to him. And what he's going through. And all I can say, and hopefully on behalf of everybody listening to this show. Get well soon mate. We want you back on the radio and in front of that microphone on stage with Thunder. Who we just heard there from the album Dopamine with Across The Nation."

Pat Travers

"Well hopefully things do keep getting better don't they. And here putting it straight is Pat Travers."

"And before that Pat Travers from 1977. And the album is Putting It Straight. The song we heard Gettin' Betta."

Martin Briley

"Once a member of Green Slade. I cam across this gentleman when he was playing bass guitar for Ian Hunter. Late 70s into the early 80s on the Schizophrenic album tour. And lo and behold in 1983 I came across him again as a solo artist when he was all over MTV because that song was a huge hit in America. It is Martin Briley there from a collection called The Mercury years. The song The Salt In My Tears."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up some classic epic David Bowie all dressed up for the 21st century."

David Bowie

"And before that we heard David Bowie from an album originally in 1970. The Man Who Sold The World. Re-released and remixed by Tony Visconti in 202. And, and I hope I'm pronouncing this correctly, the Metrobolist. Which is basically just what the album was originally gonna be called back in 1970 but I guess David got talked out of it and went with Man Who Sold The World. But the song that we just heard and it's a great remix, it really works well. The Width Of A Circle."

Steely Dan

"I saw them live at the Hollywood Bowl in May of this year just before the Leppard/Motley Crue tour kicked off. Steely Dan or as they are jokingly called these days Steely Don because Donald Fagan is the only original member left and there were 13 people on stage making a sound that sounded exactly like Steely Dan. So it did deliver exactly what it saod on the tin. And the 17,000 fans there went absolutely wild for it. So I'm not criticising by any means. It was actually great to hear those songs live. But that's the original version by the original band. From the album Royal Scam. The song we heard Kid Charlemagne."

The Cult

"Now here's a band that I just don't play often enough. I've played footie with the two main protagonists in this particular act. I've seen one of them front an updated version of The Doors. And I even toured with one of them in the Kings Of Chaos. This is The Cult."

"And before that we heard The Cult. Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury. What a pair they are. From an album called Electric. We just heard the song Wild Flower."

The Magpie Salute

"I adore that record. it's a fan tastic sounding record. What a great tune that is. Magpie Salute which is essentially half of The Black Crowes when they weren't The Black Crowes. So I don't know whether The Magpie Salute are actually on hiatus. Or they split because The Black Crowes are kind of back working together again. But hey you've got two bands for the price of one so not too bad. Title track sort of of the album High Water One. That is High Water."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. Happy that the announcement has been made that the tour is finally on. Hope to see you all out there next year. Until then I shall carry on doing what I do. Which is this show week in week out. And hopefully you can join me from between now and all the way up to the tour starting. And I shall still be doing this show on the tour. Why would I stop I'm having so much fun doing this.

"So until next week I shall leave you with this. From the album Black ice. Be careful under foot folks. This is AC/DC and Rock 'n' Roll Train. Until next week see ya!."
