Jennifer Tyler - Joe Elliott Interview Quotes

Recovering From His Vocal Issues

"Yeah well we're not going out until May but yeah. I got injured. that's what it was. It wasn't like through over extending myself. I just got ill over Christmas. I got a really, really, really bad cough. Which just destroyed my vocal cords temporarily if you like."

"I've been equating it to your favourite quarterback getting a shoulder injury. Can he play this Saturday?. No. Is he gonna be OK in a couple of months?. Yes. You know what I mean. So it's one of those kind of injuries. But it seems to be clearing up."

"So you know I was just told it's a haemorrhaged vocal cord. Needed four to six weeks rest. No major damage. No polyps. No nodes. So you know it's just like a sports injury more than anything else and it seems to be coming back OK."

We Belong

"There's a song on the new album called We Belong where I suggested that we all sang lead vocal on it because I wanted it to - I wanted us to be able to showcase how well everybody in this band can sing. On their own, not just as backing vocals. And I tried to tailor the lyrics to suit each person and to a point they do. Not specifically like you know we weren't gonna mention the word cancer for Vivian's part but you can see how it could fit that."

Down 'n' Outz DVD

"We've done one DVD. We've got a second DVD and a live album coming out in a couple of months time."

Houston 2001/Lemmy Story

"2001. I remember it very well because I wore a jacket that day that Lemmy gave me the day before. I was in LA - or two days before - I was in LA and I went to see Thin Lizzy. They were playing on Sunset Boulevard somewhere and I went to the bar and there was Lemmy propping it up. And we knew who we were. We'd met before but you know it's like oh Hi how you doing?. And I ended up going back to his apartment after the Lizzy gig and we just hung out and played records and drank too much as usual. And he went - he says I've got something for you and he gave me this brilliant hat and jacket. I couldn't pull myself to wear the hat but I wore the jacket."
