Single Notes By dltourhistory
The first single from 'Slang' was released in April 1996.
'Slang' was the first single from the album in the UK.
It reached number 17 on the UK Top chart.
It was released as the second single in the USA.
CD1 in the UK featured three acoustic tracks from October 1995 recorded at the BBC.
'Ziggy Stardust' was broadcast live during the Simon Mayo Breakfast Show at the BBC Radio One studios when they also played 'When Love & Hate Collide'.
A separate four track session for the Radio One Rock Show is believed to have been recorded at Maida Vale Studios.
This would account for the mention of two studios in the credits.
The Rock Show session is where both 'Animal' and 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' come from.
Two Steps Behind/Song Mislabelled
On the Japanese CD single released in August they use the three B-Sides that would also be used on the UK 'Work It Out' single.
This included a live acoustic version of 'Two Steps Behind' labelled as being from the BBC sessions.
Read more detail about this version on the Work It Out single page.
The version they recorded at Maida Vale of 'Two Steps Behind' was also part of the Rock Show and did not feature an audience.
Of the six total songs recorded/broadcast three were included on the Slang single.
CD2 was a Limited Edition "Three Continents In One Day - Souvenir Pack".
A CD housed in a dark red cardboard case featuring a Queen style royal logo.
Inside the CD were four postcards featuring pics of memorabilia from the record attempt.
One had a message from Joe.
The other three featured promo and live pics from each gig location - Tangier, London and Vancouver.
CD2 also included a new track and an alternate version of 'When Love & Hate Collide'.
