Show Intro
"Evening my fellow music lovers and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the magnificent Planet Rock. Great to be with you again. Sixty minutes is all I have so let's get straight on with it shall we. 1977 this is Aerosmith."
Aerosmith
"Seen them live many times. Had the great pleasure of playing with them a couple of years ago at a few festivals round South America. Specifically Rock In Rio. What a show they put on. Led by of course the power house that is Steven Tyler. That is the title track from the album Draw The Line."
The Black Crowes
"Right with their Doc Martins ready to do their thing. The is The Black Crowes."
"And before that The Black Crowes. Fantastic stuff from the album By Your Side with Kickin' My Heart Around."
Van Halen
"That used to be one of Pete Willis' favourite ever albums. Why do I know that? Because when we were touring in 1981 round America he played it on the tour bus about ten times a day. I have since got over the shock of that and actually quite enjoy hearing it now and again, It is Van Halen. The album is Women And Children First. The song Everybody Wants Some."
Sweet
"Right here's a couple of songs that feature keyboards quite heavily but they still rock. Starting off with Sweet."
"And before that we heard Sweet from the Action The Ultimate Story Collection. Huge hit for them back in 1978 I believe it was. Love Is Like Oxygen."
Styx
"They have a brand new album out later this month called The Crash Of The Crown. I must give Tommy Shaw a quick ring and say what's that all about then?. But there from 1977's Grand Illusion album it's Styx with Miss America. Lead vocals by the way from J.Y. James Young. Great stuff."
"Right coming up we're gong back to the futurama with Be Bop Deluxe."
Be Bop Deluxe
"And before that we heard Be Bop Deluxe from the 2018 remixed version of the album Futurama with a brilliant bit of work called Swan Song."
Led Zeppelin
"As any discerning Led Zeppelin fan will tell you they never released singles. Well they didn't in the UK. But they did in America. That song was the only track they released that was never on an album until it was out on various different compilations and re-releases on CD etc.. It was the B-Side of Immigrant Song back in 1970. It is of course Led Zeppelin. The song is Hey Hey What Can I Do."
The Struts
"And talking of swans check this one out from The Struts from the album Everybody Wants. And what a great song it is Black Swan."
"And before that we heard The Struts ."
Badfinger
"Such a fantastic tune that is. I remember myself and Phil Collen trying to get Tesla to cover it back in 1988. Turns out that Def Leppard would do it instead in 2006. It was the only song out of everything we did for the YEAH! album that everyone of us put in the hat first. It is a brilliant bit of work. It is Badfinger from the album No Dice with No Matter What."
Cheap Trick
"I'm always very grateful when a band that I've loved for many many years keeps putting out new music. Well this next band have released at least three albums in the last four years. Which in itself is quite remarkable. This is Cheap Trick."
"And before that we heard Cheap Trick from their latest album. It's only been out about six or seven weeks. It's a great album. It's called In Another World. The song we heard Here's Looking At You."
The Pink Floyd
"From the very eccentric mind of one Mr. Syd Barrett that is The Pink Floyd as they were known when he was in the band. It's from that wonderful collection called Creation. A song about a very strange young man called Arnold Lane."
Show Outro
"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at, guess what?, yes exactly the same time."
"So until then I shall leave you with this. From 1977 which seems to have been a quite recurring year on this particular week's show. This from their debut album is The Clash with their great version of the old Bobby Fuller Four track I Fought The Law. Until next week see ya!."
