Show Intro

"Greetings one and all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. This week it's coming to you all the way from Syracuse in UpState New York. We are back out. We've had our mini break. And we've got seven U.S. shows to do. Def Leppard, Motley Crue and we are joined on this particular leg of the tour by the legend that is Alice Cooper. I can not wait to watch Alice every night. For free on the side of the stage. What a luxury. What have we got for you tonight talking of luxurious music. it's a little eclectic tonight. A little weird. I like it that way. Let's get going. This is Roxy Music."

Roxy Music

"It reached Number 10 in the British charts back in 1973. It was never on an album until their greatest hits album came out. It is Roxy Music with Pyjamarama."

Japan

"Now here's a band that just does not get enough love as far as I'm concerned. From the naughtily titled Adolescent Sex album. This is Japan."

"And before that a band that were a huge influence on Hanoi Rocks along with the likes of MC5, Iggy And The Stooges, the Sex Pistols. And Mott The Hoople. We heard Japan from the 1977 album Adolescent Sex with Suburban Love."

Hanoi Rocks

"Now when Def Leppard played Helsinki, Finland this summer one of my guests was Michael Monroe. And just as he was leaving he handed me a little gift. And it was a couple of CDs. Including the 40th anniversary remix of the album Oriental Beat. Now if you're a Hanoi Rocks fan and you've yet to hear this I highly suggest you go out and give it a listen. It's absolutely fantastic. So I thought I'd give something a spin from that alum this week. The song that we just heard Sweet Home Suburbia."

The Only Ones

"So let's head off out of suburbia and shoot off into outer space. This is The Only Ones."

"And before that we heard The Only Ones from an album called Cash From Chaos III. With the hit single Another Girl, Another Planet."

Rick Springfield

"Great to know that at the age of 71 that man is still making some new music. God bless him. It's Rick Springfield. Brand new album out yesterday called Automatic. We just heard the title track. If that's anything to go by I shall be giving the album a good spin this week."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. This week coming to you all the way from Syracuse in UpState New York. Coming up, a fresh lick of paint on some classic Who."

The Who

"And before that we heard The Who. Freshly remixed by who else but Steven Wilson. What a great job that kid does. remixing and reinterpreting other people's work. Whether it be Yes or Jethro Tull. Or in this case The Who. The original album Who's Next came out in 1971. The song that we heard. The Song Is Over."

The Eagles

"Very sad to read this week of the passing at the age of 77 of Randy Meisner. Once of The Eagles. He was a fantastic bass player and of course a phenomenal singer. We just heard there his signature tune essentially. He wrote it, he sang it. It is Take It To The Limit. A song that was incidentally played every night at The Limit Club in Sheffield at kick out time. When I guess the club owners thought that if we play this American soft rock just as we wanted everybody to leave. Having just watched Jayne County And The Electric Chairs or David Johansen that they'd all go running fr the hills. Well they didn't, They stayed and had one more drink. That's how great that song is. So rest in peace Randy Meisner."

Be-Bop Deluxe

"So as Randy Meisner heads off to the great gig in th sky. Let's keep things heavenly. This is Be-Bop Deluxe."

"And before that we heard Be-Bop Deluxe. The 2018 remix from the album Futurama of the song Maid In Heaven."

UFO

"Taken from their breakout album in the U.S. in 1977 Lights Out. That is UFO with their take on the old Arthur Lee's Love classic Alone Again Or. Great bit of work."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, all the way from Syracuse in UpState New York, is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. But hey you know that already. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time. All the way from Omaha, Nebraska enjoying a bit of a day off.

"So until then I shall leave you with this. Now as you all know I normally like to end the show with a bit of a stonker. But this week we're gonna go out with one of those scarf waving classic 70s tunes. From the album Pyschomodo. This is Cockney Rebel featuring the wonderful Steve Harley and Tumbling Down. Until next week see ya!."
