Show Intro

Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show.

Right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. How are you? Great to be with you once again. Always a pleasure.

I've got some fantastic music lined up for you tonight as I always do.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Let's get these things started shall we, with The Struts.

The Struts

At last, at last! We are finally doing some shows together this year.

Yes, this summer The Struts are going to be opening for the Leps on a few festivals in America.

I've never seen them live, as much as I've been a fan for such a long time.

Never had the chance, and I shall be watching them from side stage.

Now, I'd love to watch it from out front, but you can't really do that at one of your own gigs.

But still, it's going to be a great time. As I said, that is The Struts from the album 'Pretty Vicious' with a wonderful track, "Rock Star."

Ricky Warwick

Now, the backbeat in rock and roll is very, very important.

Here's a couple of songs proving that point, starting off with brand new Ricky Warwick.

Before that, we heard the closing track of the latest Ricky Warwick album.

I know I played a track last week and I'll probably play one next week because it's a brilliant, brilliant album.

Hope it charts high. The album is 'Blood Ties', and the song that we heard was "The Town That Didn't Stare."

Foo Fighters

The mighty Foo Fighters there, from the album 'There Is Nothing Left To Lose', with the wonderful bit of work called "Stacked Actors." That tuned-down guitar at the beginning—absolutely fantastic.

Ellen Foley

Right then, let's go for a night out, shall we, with Ellen Foley.

And before that, Ellen Foley, produced by Mick Ronson and Ian Hunter, from the 1979 album 'Night Out'.

We heard a fantastic cover of the Graham Parker tune "Thunder and Rain."

Cheap Trick

One of the greatest things that they've ever done.

That is Cheap Trick from the album 'One On One', with "If You Want My Love."

You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock.

Coming up, some wonderful Cockney Rebel.

Cockney Rebel

And before that, can you believe this week? It's one year since the passing of the late great Steve Harley.

So I thought I would acknowledge that fact by playing one of his greatest bits of work.

It's taken from the album 'Psychomodo'. It's Cockney Rebel with "Tumbling Down."

Bad Company

Well, they got my vote for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and fingers crossed they will get in. They absolutely deserve it.

In fact, seeing as we've been in for five years and only formed in 1973, their career was pretty much coming to an end by then.

They should have been in long before we were, and as I said, fingers crossed they will get in.

It's Bad Company with the title track of their debut album.

The New Cars

Now, here's a couple of great live tracks, starting off with The New Cars.

And before that, we heard The New Cars from an album called 'It's Alive'.

Now, The New Cars were The Cars, fronted by Todd Rundgren.

So, of course, they were going to also delve into Todd's catalog.

And we just heard a really great live version of a song from Todd's original band back in the late '60s called The Nazz.

The song is "Open Your Eyes."

Peter Frampton

Now, by all accounts, that is still the best-selling live album of all time, and that album came out in 1976, so that's pretty impressive.

Here's Peter Frampton from the album 'Frampton Comes Alive' with the opening track "Something's Happening."

Show Outro

And that, my dear friends, is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always.

I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time, so please don't go anywhere.

Until then, I shall leave you with this. As we all know, I don't self-indulge, but this came up on a playlist a couple of days ago, and I thought, "Wow, I forgot how good this sounds."

So I'm going to play it. This is The Down 'n' Outz' version of the classic Tubes song "White Punks on Dope."

Until next week, see ya!
