The Joe Elliott Show - 15th March 2025 Transcript - (Transcribed by dltourhistory)
Show Intro
Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock.
How are you? Great to be with you once again!
I can't believe it's been seven days since we last did this, but I've only got the one hour.
So let's get on with it, shall we? This is Million Dollar Reload.
Million Dollar Reload
They were born out of County Tyrone in Northern Ireland, and I saw them live opening for the Quireboys about 15 years ago, and I thought they were absolutely fantastic.
Sadly, they are no longer together. I believe they've splintered off into various different bands, but what an album they made. It is 'Anthems Of A Degeneration', the song that we just heard, "Super Slave."
Ricky Warwick
And sticking with Northern Ireland as you do, their favourite son, no, it's not Van Morrison, it's not George Best, it's Ricky Warwick. Brand-new Ricky Warwick album out yesterday.
And before that, absolutely brand-new Ricky Warwick album out yesterday. It's a brilliant album. He's doing some amazing promo for this. I really hope he takes off for him. The album is called 'Blood Ties', The song that we heard features Charlie Starr, "Rise and Grind."
Sensational Alex Harvey Band
I've always thought that when somebody hears that song for the first time, they'd be forgiven for thinking that the band came from some Middle Eastern exotic area, like Turkey or somewhere like that. But no, they are from Glasgow. It is the Sensational Alex Harvey band, the album 'Tomorrow Belongs To Me', the song we heard was "Action Stress A."
Joe Walsh
Right, here's two singing guitarists to back, both very different, but both very brilliant. Starting off with Joe Walsh.
And before that, we heard Joe Walsh, taken from his 'Look What I Did: The Joe Walsh Collection', with a wonderful bit of work called "Funk Number 49."
Pat Travers
Actually, nice tie-in to the fact that I played Alex Harvey earlier on, because I saw Pat Travers open two nights for the Sensational Alex Harvey Band in 1976 at the Sheffield City Hall, and that's where I fell in love with his music.
And there, from his debut album that he was promoting on that particular tour, we just heard "Medley Parts One and Two,".
You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock.
Coming up, we're off to the Russian wastelands with Yes.
Yes
And before that, we heard Yes from the expanded version of that wonderful album 'Close To The Edge' with "Siberian Khatru."
Doctors Of Madness
Absolutely my favorite song that that band ever did, and they did some great work. It is the Doctors of Madness from their second album in 1977. The album's called 'Figments Of Emancipation', the song that we just heard 'Out'.
Queen
There are a couple of fantastic bands loved not just for their powerhouse music, but for the fact that they had these astonishing operatic vocals, starting off with Queen.
And before that, Queen. It's the 2024 remix of what is now known as 'Queen I', with a wonderful bit of work called "My Fairy King."
Uriah Heep
Wonderful stuff there. That is Uriah Heep, the album is 'Demons and Wizards', the song that we heard was "Traveller In Time,"
Show Outro
And that, my dear friends, is about it for this week's show. It's been a real pleasure as always.
But hey, don't I say it every week, and hey, don't I mean it every week? I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time. So please don't go anywhere. Why would you ever want to anyway?
Until then, I shall leave you with this, from 1975, produced by Queen's producer Roy Thomas Baker. This is Be Bop Deluxe, from the album 'Futurama', with the magnificent and almost-hit single "Made In Heaven."
Till next week. See ya!
