Def Leppard played a Summer Stadium Tour 2024 show last night in Spokane, WA with 19 songs performed.

The show took place at the 12,638 capacity Spokane Arena.

The first show in this city since June 2017.

The sixth time at this venue.

Back In Spokane

The Summer Stadium Tour became the Summer Arena Tour once more.

Moving from Seattle, Washington to Spokane, Washington.

It looked like it had been sunny outside but this was another indoor arena show.

A return to an area where they had first played on the Pyromania tour in August 1983.

Back in Spokane for the first time in seven years as it said on the poster.

Like Portland they had been due to play here in October 2020 but the 20/20 VIsion tour with ZZ Top ultimately had to be cancelled.

Like the first attempt at The Stadium Tour this was due to the pandemic.

That show scheduled for 18th October 2020 would have been the last show of that tour had it been played.

So after a seven year wait they finally made it back to Spokane.

No Zeppelin

A week or so before this show Jason Bonham had to pull out of his tour dates with the Led Zeppelin Experience due to family issues.

This also meant leaving the Best Of All Worlds tour with Sammy Hagar.

JBLZE were due to open this show and in Salt Lake City on the 10th September.

Who would replace them?.

A random person on the venue's Facebook page suggested it would be a DJ.

A few fans posting on IG and FB seemed excited to see a Led Zeppelin related band even a few minutes before show time.

They obviously had not heard the news.

DJ Opener

Despite fan question on FB the venue did not seem to know or want to share who the replacement opener would be and said only this when asked who it was:

"Def Leppard will playing an extended set to make up for JBLZE not being able to perform as scheduled."

"Still starting at 8:45, but are playing a longer set to make up for JBLZE not being able to perform as scheduled."

It became clear the rumours of a DJ were true when a desk was placed from center stage where Joe normally stands.

Rick's drum kit was not covered over and the stage was basically ready for Def Leppard.

But not before the DJ played about 45 minutes of songs including AC/DC and apparently some "odd" song choices.

The DJ in question turned out to be Matthew DjMatty Parker who is based in Spokane.

The first DJ to open for Def Leppard since Honolulu in October 2018 when DJ Delve opened although there was a Virtual DJ at the three German shows in 2023.

Extended Pyromania

An earlier start meant the band would open at 8:45pm like the good old days of 110 plus minute headline sets back in the Pre-2005 era.

'Rock! Rock!' kicked things off again and a very good side stage video appeared.

And for the third show in a row it looked like those following online would see most of the show LIVE as it happened.

It didn't quite work out like that...but another great video of 'Die Hard The Hunter' turned up later on.

More show time for the band meant the Pyromania section was extended with both 'Billy's Got A Gun' and 'Comin' Under Fire' played.

Judging by those two videos and a clip of Foolin' it seems like another great show was played.

A smaller and slightly different lighting rig was used here with six lines of lights and none of the moving banks of lights.

Rick's drum riser and the ramp also had different lights on the front (see Fan Videos).

The side video screens were the basic projector style ones plus a smaller Thrust as seen in Hollywood, FL.

Instagram was also quiet with only about 3 or 4 posts and half of those just after the show ended.

A 'This Guitar' video on YouTube shows the band were all cramped up on the small Thrust stage for the acoustic section.

No word on whether Sav wore another sports shirt and if he did it would have been for the WHL team Spokane Chiefs.

He did wear the stripey outfit seen in Orlando and Joe wore a black 'Just Like '73' T-Shirt for most of the show.

Early Start/Early Finish

Despite the support band pulling out you have to say Spokane got one of the best sets of the tour alongside Cleveland with 19 songs.

The early start time also meant an early finish at about 10:20pm.

Some extra rest for the band before the last big stadium show of the tour tomorrow in "Denver, Colorado!".

As you can read below Phil's tech revealed Extreme attended this show and the band have included a backstage photo.

Extreme play in Tacoma, WA tonight and Spokane, WA tomorrow.

And also on IG Sav suggests Spokane was the loudest crowd of the tour - with only 12,000 fans.

19 Song Setlist

A 19 song setlist was played.

'Just Like '73' and 'Comin' Under Fire' were played in this city for the first time.

Spokane History

The first visit to Spokane was in August 1983 at Spokane Coliseum on the Pyromania tour with Uriah Heep in support.

An In The Round show was played at the same venue in July 1988 on the Hysteria tour.

The first visit to Spokane Arena was in September 2003 on the X/Ten tour.

Last night's show was the 9th overall performance in Spokane.

The next Def Leppard show takes place in Denver, CO on 8th September.
