DEF LEPPARD Summer Stadium Tour 2024 In SAN FRANCISCO, CA (Show Report/Setlist)
Def Leppard played a Summer Stadium Tour 2024 show last night in San Francisco, CA with 18 songs performed.
The show took place at the 42,300 capacity Oracle Park.
The first show in this city since September 2022.
The third time at this venue.
Going To California
The Summer Stadium Tour Night #2 in California.
The second of three stadium shows in this state on the 2024 tour.
And a return to one of the stadiums also played with Journey in 2018 (and again with Motley Crue in 2022).
A venue which stands next to San Francisco Bay with another great view for fans to enjoy as they waited for the show.
Bright sunshine illuminated the stage as the Steve Miller Band opened their set at 6pm.
For unknown reasons their show looked a little bit different with the usual white backdrop behind them not used, just the white floor.
Home town band Journey followed from 7:30pm.
And once again the Pyro Clock countdown led up to the 9:30pm start for the band who first played the city in May 1980.
Despite having a date booked for September 1983 at the Cow Palace the 1983 tour did not visit San Francisco.
So it was about to experience some of the more rarely played Pyromania songs for the first time since the two night stand on the Hysteria.
Back Under Fire
'Rock! Rock!' began and despite a slowish start to things online fans soon began to broadcast what turned out to be most of the show.
And another great show it was with the band in fine form again.
No pre-show video by Rick Allen this time but he was pounding out the thunder on his kit and smiling away.
After the big start and another great response to the current single it was Pyromania time.
What would they play this time to start the three song section?.
Yes, 'Comin' Under Fire' returned and like the two songs that came after it, it sounded rather awesome.
This song and 'Too Late For Love' and 'Die Hard The Hunter' (Short Version) being one of the highlights of this or any of the recent shows played in the last decade or two.
At least if you like more than just the singles.
The acoustic section next with, as Joe says, three of the greatest singers in rock, backing him on 'This Guitar'.
Which led into 'BOTH' and back into the electric ending and ''Switch 625.
The big finish of 'Hysteria' and 'PSSOM' ended another show in front of at least 30,000 to 35,000 fans and Sav this time wearing a San Francisco Giants baseball shirt.
Joe remarking at the end of the show that "This is why we love coming here." as they took their final bows.
Now only three more stadiums shows left plus the two arenas and one amphitheatre show.
Up next the third of the three shows in California in San Diego.
18 Song Setlist
An 18 song setlist was played.
'Just Like '73' and 'Comin' Under Fire' were played in this city for the first time.
San Francisco History
The first visit to San Francisco was in May 1980 at The Warfield Theatre during their debut American tour as support to Pat Travers.
Oracle Park was played in both 2018 (with Journey closing) and in 2022 with Motley Crue on The Stadium Tour.
More fans attended the 2018 show (35,617) than the 2022 one (30,087).
Last night's show was the 8th overall performance in San Francisco.
The next Def Leppard show takes place in San Diego, CA on 30th August.
