DEF LEPPARD Play First Show Of 2025 In LEON, MEXICO (Show Report/Setlist)

Def Leppard played the first show of 2025 last night in León, Mexico with 19 songs performed.
The show took place at the 14,600 capacity Foro Mazda.
The first show by the band in this city.
A show played as part of the Feria Estatal de León event.
A quicker than normal return to Mexico having last played here in 2023 on The World Tour.
Back In Action
The band ended The Summer Stadium Tour...twice, in a stadium in Denver and the again a couple of days later in a stormy Salt Lake City in September 2024.
They then played a surprise corporate show in Nashville, TN in October minus Vivian.
The wait for 2025 tour news began and then the (so far) handful of tour dates started to get announced.
The 2025 shows were due to kick off in Immokalee, FL but it seems not enough fans bought tickets and the slightly odd saga of that festival came to an end on 6th January with a cancellation.
Fast forward to 18th January and the band were back in action and back in Mexico.
Matching the quick return of 2012 to 2014 and just under two years since The World Tour visits to Mexico City and Monterrey.
And for only the second time stepping outside of those cities to visit León (Guadalajara was also played in 2017).
Feria Estatal de León
The band's first show here and at the Feria Estatal de León which kicked off on 10th January and runs all the way to 5th February.
Last night's show being the sixth show at the Foro Mazda.
Following on from the 16th January show by Camila Cabello.
The venue effectively being an outdoor one but with a massive curved open roof above the stage area and much of the crowd of up to 14,600 fans.
A typical outdoor festival looking stage at one end with two side video screens and one large one at the back of the stage.
78F temps predicted and sunny skies for the first show of 2025.
Time to rock!.
Soundcheck
After local fans posted pics of the band arriving at the airport this was followed by soundcheck videos.
The band played instrumental versions of Rock! Rock!, Animal and Armageddon It with the very open air venue giving locals a glimpse of the action.
The videos included a spoiler of the same 2024 Pyromania themed Intro and the opening song.
Foro Mazda Got Rocked
Starting promptly at 9:10pm, 'Rock! Rock!' got things off to a loud and rocking start in front of the enthusiastic Mexican fans.
Ten minutes past the advertised start time and following two local opening bands from León.
The set did not stray too far from the one played at most shows in 2024.
A slow one to follow online after the great start with local news sites streaming at least the first five or six songs.
Sadly what seemed to be the case before the show was true and one band member was absent again.
Vivian Campbell Announcement
During his usual intro for 'Foolin'' Joe announced that Vivian was not here due to ongoing cancer treatment and would be replaced again by Phil's tech John Zocco.
This would also explain him missing the private corporate show in Nashville, TN in October.
John is only the second American to perform with the band after Steve Brown who stood in for both Vivian (2014/2015) and Phil (2018).
Hopefully Vivian can return for the shows in May and the rest of the year.
I'm sure we all wish him well!.
As you can see/hear from the pics/videos posted so far it was a triumphant start to 2025 despite this news.
Local news commented on the fact the crowd was the biggest yet of the festival and the Foro Mazda was packed to capacity of up to almost 20,000 fans.
19 Song Setlist/Wasted In Mexico
A 19 song setlist was played.
'Just Like '73' and 'Die Hard The Hunter' were played in Mexico for the first time.
'Let's Get Rocked' and 'Let It Go' were included having not been part of the main tour setlist in 2024.
It seems likely this setlist was also the one played in Nashville apart from the last song.
'Wasted' was played as an extra encore and for the very first time ever in Mexico.
On Through The Night 45th Anniversary/Box Set?
Remember Rick Allen's interview where he mentioned a box set for On Through The Night?...well Joe appears to have confirmed this March will see another box set.
Joe mentioned the anniversary is being celebrated this year before they played their extra encore of 'Wasted' - see quote below and many more full videos of songs in the Fan Videos playlist.
Mexico History
The first visit to Mexico took place in September 1993 to the end of the Adrenalize tour with a debut in Monterrey and two nights in Mexico City.
They would return for more tours in 1997, 2005, 2012, 2014 and 2017.
The last show in Mexico was at Estadio Banorte in Monterrey in February 2023 on The World Tour with Motley Crue.
Which followed a show at Foro Sol in Mexico City in front of 60,000 fans.
Joe also played a solo show in Mexico City with Kings Of Chaos in November 2013.
Last night's show was the first performance in León.
The next Def Leppard show takes place in San Juan, Puerto Rico on 15th May (unless more new shows are announced before then).
