Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen appeared on AXS TV show Life In Six Strings in November 2023 and the full video is now available.

The show first aired on Monday 20th November 2023 at 8:30pm on AXS TV.

Phil Interviewed By Kylie Olsson

AXS TV premiered the episode with Phil in November 2023 and it has now been posted online in full on YouTube.

Kylie had previously interviewed the band for the 'Hysteria at 30' two-part documentary in 2017 and multiple times for the SKY ARTS coverage of the Download Festival.

Phil briefly talked about Steve Clark during the interview - read his quotes below.

Life In Six Strings first premiered on AXS TV in the USA on 2nd October 2023.

Other guests have included Mick Mars from Motley Crue, Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme and Steve Vai.

Phil's episode was filmed at his home in Laguna Beach, California and at the Fender Guitar factory in Corona, California.

Kylie Olsson - "You and Steve Clark had the moniker of the Terror Twins."

Phil Collen - "The Terror Twins yeah."

Kylie - "See I guess you partied, you still partied but not quite as hard."

Phil - "It actually killed him I mean it really did."

Phil - "And I actually stopped before that you know."

Phil - "I was I was like - I started blacking out and I don't want to do that anymore."

Phil - "You know and then he couldn't stop and he tried went to rehab, done all that stuff and yeah."

Kylie - "In your living room when we were there earlier you had that amazing big picture by Ross Halfin."

Phil - "Oh yeah, yeah."

Kylie - "That's so sweet like just he's there."

Kylie - "Do you miss him?."

Phil - "Oh totally."

Kylie - "Because you two were super close weren't you?."

Phil - "Yeah yeah oh totally and it's been that's been 31, 32 years coming up."

Kylie - "So sad."

Phil - "Horrible."

Kylie - "I heard that it was it was kind of too much for you and it got to the point where you felt like that's it I want to leave Def Leppard."

Phil - "The thing when I was going 'I want to leave' was um the gang thing it was different all of a sudden it was like oh this is just feels different it feels crap and I didn't want to replace him."

Kylie - "Right I see what you mean."

Phil - "So um you know and Joe was like well we wrote all these songs together we at least got to put the album out and then it was like yeah so we got to go on tour so we we figured out it took me about a year."

Kylie - "Could you ever have imagined leaving Def Leppard?."

Phil - "No not really it's been such a such a integral part you know it's and it keeps moving on you know like Mutt's not here anymore but he still is, we still play all these songs and we learnt all that stuff from him you know."

Kylie - "What a career it's been."

Phil - "Yeah now amazing the fact that we're still doing it we're still learning and still really really enjoying it."

Phil - "I actually honestly think it means more at 65 than it did say when you're 25 you know I mean."

Kylie - "Yeah I do yeah definitely."
