DEF LEPPARD On JUST LIKE '73 Single (Watch Lyric Video Now)

Def Leppard just released the lyric video for their new single Just Like '73 which can now be viewed on YouTube.
The single was premiered on BBC Radio 2 last week and then released digitally.
The first release of new material since the 'Diamond Star Halos' album in May 2022.
Just Like '73 Promo Video
'Just Like '73' was premiered on BBC Radio 2 by Zoe Ball on 13th June and then released worldwide as a digital download.
The new lyric video is now available on YouTube and was directed by Frank Gryner (brother of Emm) who worked on three videos from the 'Def Leppard' album.
The animated video features the band and Tom Morello "as you’ve never seen them before".
Similar artwork to the video is seen on the printed art cards that come with the limited edition 7 Inch single.
The video had been due on 20th June but is available now.

Just Like '73 Song Quotes
In a series of preview video the band have spoken about the song and you can read their words below.
The clips were also used as a trailer for the video which is now live.
There are now just 11 days until the song will get it's full live debut as The Summer Stadium Tour starts in St. Louis, MO.
And if you look closer at the video you may notice Sav (at least in rehearsals) is using a headset microphone again which he has not sued on stage since summer 2003 on the X/Ten tour.
He may by using it again this year due to the band having a much larger stage area to cover.

"Just like 73 I first heard it when it was a demo and it nearly got released for the Diamond Star Halos album."
"But we just felt that it was a little more things to be added a little more work done to it to make it how we wanted it to be."

"So the whole idea for 73 really came about towards the end of Diamond Star Halos."
"It really should have been on that album but we hadn't quite finished it off."
"So it's got a real glam rock feel and a vibe to it you know we went for the Mike Leander drum sound which was really cool."
"In the very early 70s and kind of mixed it with slayed type backing vocal which is kind of really shouty loud and aggressive like almost like football hooligan kind of chants."
"So that was the vibe we were going for and then something very melodic which is our Def Leppard thing."
"So it was all of our influences done in a very Def Leppard kind of way so that that was it really."
"It was just that all the elements that we become you know that has become Def Leppard."

"Because of it being based around that whole kind of 73 vibe, it was a glammy very British glam I wanted to write a lyric that kind of reflected that."
"So I stole a kind of few little ideas from previous songs I wanted it to phonetically run the way a Mark Bolan song would have done from either 72 or 73."
"So again we're back to the hub cap diamond star halo which gave birth to the album title Diamond Star Halos."
"It's phonetic it doesn't make any sense."

"When I first heard Just Like 73 I couldn't get out of my head it's a really really catchy song."
"And I actually said to Rona I said it sounds a bit like a sea shanty with all the whoah!."
"It's a good time song it's a celebration of what was an incredible era in music and it's fun to play too."
