DEF LEPPARD Live In Birmingham, AL 2025 (Show Report/Setlist)

Def Leppard played a 2025 tour show last night in Birmingham, AL with 18 songs performed.
The show took place at the 9,300 capacity Coca-Cola Amphitheater.
Another outdoor amphitheatre.
The first show in this city since 2018.
Old City/New Venue
The band made their way from Arkansas to Alabama and they brought the heat with them.
Heat advisory warnings for the city and temperatures around 34C.
And it seems they won't escape the heat as the go further east with temperatures there event hotter at almost 40C.
A return to playing an amphitheater here after an indoor arena show in 2018 which had last been played in 1987/1992 In The Round.
But most of the shows in this city were at Oak Mountain with a similar 10,000-ish capacity.
This venue though had only just opened a few days before on the 22nd with a show by comedian Matt Rife.
Def Leppard became only the second musical act to play here after the Dave Matthews Band on the 24th.
A venue that has a similar look to the USANA Ampthitheatre in Salt Lake City with no roof over the crowd.
Also no lawn section and all seating.
Storm Delay
Before the doors could open news of a delay from the venue with storms in the local area producing lightning.
"Severe Weather Delay - Due to incoming storms producing lightning, doors will be delayed.".
Shades of Salt Lake City 2024 in a similarly roofless outdoor venue.
But just over 20 minutes later all was well and the fans were let in got ready for the show.
"Good News - Show will continue, updated event info posted.".
A brief unwanted reminder of the first ten or so shows of The Stadium Tour in 2022.
Bret Michaels Opening
Bret Michaels opened the show at 8pm once again with his 8 song solo set.
Solo but mostly all Poison songs and of course a cover song.
Already being played but more apt here in this state - 'Sweet Home Alabama'.
Bret having this in his set might have stopped Joe from doing his usual acoustic snippet later on.
Some fan selfies showed the crowd were treated to an amazing sunset as Bret played his set.
And he was watched by none other than The Thundergod Rick Allen who posted his usual pre-show video from side stage and seemed to be having a great time.
Another Hot One
9:20pm came along again and the band kicked it all off with 'Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)' quickly followed by 'Rocket'.
And then 'Let's Get Rocked' - There will be "rock"!.
Lots of videos posted by fans and the show seemed to be another great one.
No continuous broadcasts but still a lot of footage was shown and enough to see the band are still on top form.
Joe having fun getting the crowd pumped up before 'Just Like '73'.
And later introducing the acoustic section with "Okay so as you can see we're about to play you some speed metal.".
The crowd sang along to 'Two Steps Behind' before the rocking end section began with BOTH.
It all seemed to be going well until 'Rock Of Ages' when the fan posts stopped.
But another great show by the band before a capacity crowd.
A nearby fire during Switch 625 saw a big plume of smoke rise up in the sky on the horizon.
Lightning was also visible in the distance.
And just as they get used to being back in amphitheatre venues again the next show sees them back to casino territory.
And the familiar surroundings of Atlantic City and another indoor venue.
Plus two days off to recover from playing in the excessive heat, which was even mentioned in a local news broadcast (see Fan Videos).
More importantly the next show is on East Coast time!.
18 Song Setlist
An 18 song setlist was played.
'Just Like '73' and 'This Guitar' were played here for the first time.
Birmingham History
The first visit to Birmingham was in May 1983 on the Pyromania tour at Boutwell Auditorium.
They returned in both 1987 and 1992 at the Legacy Arena @ BJCC for two In The Round shows on the Hysteria/Adrenalize tours.
In 1996 they played for the first of many shows in nearby Pelham at the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre on the Slang tour.
After a nine year gap they played the City Stages Festival in 2005 on the Rock Of Ages tour.
Then it was back to the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre under various names in 2006, 2008, 2015 and 2016.
The 2015 show was where Vivian had planned his return after missing three shows but due to travel issues had to miss a fourth and return in Atlanta, GA the next night.
He would not have to miss a show again until October 2024.
The last time in this city was in August 2018 with Journey for a return to the Legacy Arena @ BJCC.
Last night's show was the 11th overall performance in Birmingham (and/or Pelham).
The next Def Leppard show takes place in Atlantic City, NJ on 28th June.
