Def Leppard's Let's Get Rocked Rough Cut video was featured on Top Of The Pops in 1992 and the episode was rebroadcast on BBC Four.

A rare version of the Let's Get Rocked video was included on the 26th March 1992 episode.

This episode was recently shown again on BBC Four.

The band had performed the new single as a four piece on the 19th March show in the week of the single being released.

By the following week it had entered the chart at Number 6.

The video shown was actually the initial unfinished version that was briefly shown on MTV and regular TV stations from mid March to early April.

Let's Get Rocked Rough Cut Video

This first version of the video was premiered in March 1992 on the XPO show on MTV Europe.

It is also the version first used by Top Of The Pops, The Chart Show and other shows worldwide for a short time before the final version was ready.

The on screen captions used by Channel 4's The Chart Show at the time explained the full video was yet to be finished.

By at least 4th April the full video was released and now being shown by MTV and all other TV stations.

A clip from The Chart Show dated 4th April 1992 on YouTube confirms this and that this Rough Cut version was only aired for a very brief time.

View some screenshots below and the video via the BBC iPlayer link (UK Only).

You'll have to be quick as there is only 1 day left before the show expires.

The 26th March 1992 episode was re-broadcast twice in January 2022 for the first time since it originally aired.

The video clip starts at 12:24 minutes into the show and lasts until 15:17 minutes.

Unfinished Scene #1

The first noticeable difference from the final version occurs at the "Diallin' through my radio" line.

The car scene shows unfinished graphics of the car, followed by the full car and the radio dials shown all over the screen and close up.

The final scene has the Flynn character in the car at this point.

Unfinished Scene #2

The next unfinished/different part happens just as Joe gets to the "I suppose a rock's out of the question" line.

Some unused scenes of the band performing are shown and unfinished graphics of the female legs, then briefly the full legs.

The part where Flynn asks the question and gets kicked is not shown on this version.

There may be other unfinished scenes but TOTP only showed just less than 3 minutes of the video.

If you taped the video on VHS from MTV or regular TV at the time you may have this version on a tape somewhere.

It was also later shown again in full randomly on a episode of Headbanger's Ball on MTV Europe sometime in the mid to late 90s.

It ends abruptly before the full song ends and unlike some of the other rare/different versions was not included on the 2004 'Best Of The Videos' DVD.
