  • Location / London, England
  • Venue / Carling Apollo Hammersmith (Hammersmith Odeon)

The first show by the band in this city since February on the first X/Ten UK tour.

The 12th time at this venue.

The venue is located in the Hammersmith area of the city next to the Hammersmith Flyover/A4 road and not far from the River Thames and Riverside Studios which the band would play in June 1999 for the 'TFI Friday' TV show.

It was opened in March 1932 as the Gaumont Palace.

It was then given its most famous name of Hammersmith Odeon from 1962 to 1992.

After that it became Labatt's Apollo (1992-1996), Hammersmith Apollo (1996-2002, 2006-2009 and 2013), Carling Apollo Hammersmith (2002-2006), HMV Hammersmith Apollo (2009-2012).

It was redeveloped in 2013 when it was given its current name of Eventim Apollo.

Rick Allen's 40th birthday (Nov 1st) was celebrated at the show with his mother bringing a cake out on stage for him just before Joe led the crowd in singing Happy Birthday gto him before 'Two Steps Behind'.

'Foolin'' was dropped from the setlist.

Brian May of Queen was the surprise guest playing on a cover of the Queen classic 'Tie Your Mother Down' ('Yo Momma' on the printed setlist) to end the show and another fantastic UK tour.

Joe had given a hint of this by earlier adding in lines from 'We Will Rock You' during 'Rocket'.

The first time the band had played this Queen song live and their second Queen cover after 'Now I'm Here' which and been played in 1987 with Brian and twice in 1992 (the second with Brian again at the Freddie Mercury Tribute show).

A decent quality audience recording exists from this show.
