During the tour break Joe Elliott attended one of Metallica five Mexico City shows in 1993 (Feb 25th/26th/27th or Mar 1st/2nd) whilst in the country on a promo trip with his then wife Karla. He was also interviewed on local TV.
The venue is located in the city centre a few blocks south of the University Of Nebraska Lincoln and its 90,000 capacity Memorial Stadium.
It was opened in March 1957.
It was closed in August 2014.
The building still stands and features a large ceramic mural on its front entrance side.
The show started an hour late due to technical reasons.
