Seattle, WA - Media Reviews
Billy Squier/Def Leppard @ Seattle Center Coliseum By Seattle Daily Times
The group stole the show when lead singer Joe Elliott leaped onto the stage.
That was about the time the crowd surged forward and people started getting squeezed down front.
"You all right down there?" Elliott asked.
Almost everybody was; you expect such inconveniences at a show by a hot new rock group.
Def Leppard almost lived up to its expectations, except that a lot of its songs sounded alike.
Several had the words 'rock' or 'roll' in the hook.
But Phil Collen and Steve Clark both were a cut above most heavy metal guitarists and the band showed a melodic side in 'Bringin' On The Heartbreak' and 'Photograph' its big hit, which Elliott says is about Marilyn Monroe.
The band started six years ago when its five members were in their teens, still is young and likely to grow.
Def Leppard is sure to be back this summer and that show will be hot, too.
Last night's 60 minute set only whetted the fans' appetite for more.
