  • Location / London, England
  • Venue / The Marquee Club

The first show by the band in this city since July 1981 on the High 'n' Dry tour.

The third time at this club.

The venue was located on Wardour Street in the Soho area of London.

The first show of 1983 and a warm-up date for the main 'Pyromania' world tour.

Phil Collen's first show with the band after joining the band in July 1982 during the recording of the album to replace the departed Pete Willis.

Joe mentioned the forthcoming 'Pyromania' UK album release for February 18th (a tentative date which was changed).

Four songs from the 'Pyromania' album were played live for the very first time - 'Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)', 'Photograph', 'Billy's Got A Gun' and 'Rock Of Ages'.

Brian Robertson of Motorhead (ex Thin Lizzy) became one of the first people to guest on a Leppard encore during the very first playing of the Creedence Clearwater Revival cover "Travellin' Band". This would go on to be played during most encores throughout 1983/1984 and again in 1986, 1987 and 1988 on the 'Hysteria' tour.

The audience recording of the show is notable for the fact that it's one of the few times Phil played on the early songs 'Lady Strange', 'Overture' and 'Getcha Rocks Off'.

Something he would only get to do up to the end of this tour leg in Europe. 'Rock! Rock!' featured the band playing the live album intro for the first time, similar to the one taken from 'Medicine Man' which had been played multiple times in 1980.

As there is no record of 'Bringin' On The Heartbreak' and 'Switch 625' being played live in 1981 this is likely the first time they were included in the setlist.

The club hosted its most famous concerts whilst at this location from 1964 to 1988 before moving to Charing Charing Cross Road and closing in 1996.

Other versions of the club appeared at different locations including Covent Garden but it closed for good in 2008.

Future band member Phil Collen had performed here many times already with his early bands and Girl.

Fellow future Lep member Vivian Campbell would also play this venue for the first time in December 1980 with Sweet Savage.

The top right of the old entrance to the venue has a Blue Plaque dedicated to The Who drummer Keith Moon.
