The Who/Def Leppard 2017
Def Leppard's show in Porto Alegre, Brazil supporting The Who is now confirmed having been announced last month.
Local promoters first announced the show a few weeks ago on 27th April as mentioned without official confirmation from either band.
The show has now been confirmed for 26th September at the Anfiteatro Beira-Rio.
Although announced as the Anfiteatro Beira-Rio the show venue is actually at the 51,300 capacity Estadio Beira-Rio.
A recent Elton John show was played with the same venue name announced but footage shows it was at the stadium. Home of the Sport Club Internacional football team. The selfie shot by fans below shows them at this stadium and is tagged as 'Anfiteatro Beira-Rio.'
The stadium was opened in April 1969 and was renovated in 2013 in time for the 2014 FIFIA football world cup.
A smaller 14,000 seat arena next to the stadium is known as the Ginásio Gigantinho.
NOTE - 'Anfiteatro Beira-Rio' turns out to be a smaller set up inside the main stadium. View the seating chart on the ticket website.
The third confirmed show in Brazil in September alongside the dates in Rio and Sao Paulo with Aerosmith.
Bon Jovi play the same stadium a week before on 19th September.
44 shows have now been announced for the 2017 tour. The capacity of the three shows in Brazil alone comes to 236,000. Depending on the exact concert capacity of the stadiums and the Rock In Rio show (which potentially holds 130,000) they could perform to over 250,000 fans during their six shows in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico (As indicated above the capacity is much less for the Porto Alegre show).
There are still potentially two more dates with Aerosmith that could be announced.
Tickets for The Who/Def Leppard show are on sale today with a general sale from 22nd May.
Joe had mentioned on his 8th April radio show the band would play a show with The Who as well as up to four with Aerosmith.
Joe performed with The Who on the song 'Love Reign O'er Me' in November 2014 at a Teenage Cancer Trust charity show in London, England. The show as filmed but has not yet been released.
He also covered the song for the Who Are You tribute album in 2012.
