Wembley Stadium 1992
NFL UK have hinted in a series of tweets that Def Leppard may be part of the pregame entertainment at Wembley Stadium in September.
The Miami Dolphins will play the Oakland Raiders at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 28th September. Kick off is at 6pm.
This is the first of three NFL games at Wembley this season. All three games will "probably" be shown live in the UK as part of Channel 4's NFL coverage.
Def Leppard have only played Wembley Stadium once before at the April 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute show. The stadium has since been rebuilt and was reopened in 2007.
There is already a connection between the band and the NFL. They appeared in the opening titles of the US NFL show Monday Night Football in October 1993 to promote the Retro-Active album. The game that time also featured the Miami Dolphins playing the Washington Redskins.
Clips from this were used in the 'Action' promo video filmed by NFL Entertainment who also filmed the 'MYIAH' clip.
Lep's last UK show was of course on 14th December 2011 at Wembley Arena. The final show of the Mirrorball world tour. According to Songfacts.com - "(Rick) Allen was once criticized by Queen Elizabeth because of the Union Jack boxers he wore onstage. The Union Jack is the flag representing the United Kingdom.".
Gene Simmons of KISS sang the US National Anthem at the 29th September 2013 game between Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings at Wembley.
