Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen plays guitar on the new single 'Get Your Rock On' by Poison frontman Bret Michaels to be included on the album of the same name.
Phil appears along with Sal Costa on the song which was recently adapted as 'Get Your Ride On' and used as the 2012 US Supercross theme. This main version of the song is also available to buy as a digital single and will be the title track of Bret's forthcoming solo album.
It was released on 9th January via iTunes and Amazon (listen to a clip below), Bret first mentioned wanting both Phil and Joe to guest on this album in August 2011 (when he also began talking about the now confirmed 2012 tour). In a new Rolling Stone interview he talks about the album. Producer and Bret Michaels band guitarist Pete Evick recently talked to Guitar World about the song and how Phil came to be involved.
Rolling Stone - Bret Michaels Interview Quote
"The song 'Get Your Rock On' has Phil Collen from Def Leppard playing guitar with me and it also has Sal Costa from My Darkest Days, really, really good guitar player and good friend."
Guitar World - Pete Evick Interview Quotes
How did Phil Collen and Sal Costa become involved in the song?
"Then with Phil, he and Bret have been buddies a long time. I'm not sure how it happened but Bret said to me, "Call Phil - he's waiting on you to send him the tracks." Next thing you know I'm mixing Phil Collen's guitar, the guy who played on Pyromania and Hysteria, two of the most well-produced albums in rock history."
Who plays the solo on the song?
On the version that's out there it's Phil doing the lead. I believe when we put the whole album out, we'll have a bonus track with my original solo.
