RICK ALLEN Says DEF LEPPARD's PYROMANIA Album To Feature Heavily On 2024 Tour

Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen has been interviewed along with his wife Lauren and he spoke about the Pyromania 40th anniversary and 2024 stadium tour.

The Summer Stadium Tour 2024 was first announced on 7th December 2023.

The tour starts on 6th July 2024 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO and ends on 8th September in Denver, CO at Coors Field.

Three other shows have since been added in Hollywood, FL and in Spokane, WA/Salt Lake City, UT taking it up to 10th September.

2024 Tour Setlist/Pyromania 40th Anniversary

Rick and his wife Lauren Monroe have been interviewed by the Sound Up! podcast ahead of their 14th March benefit show in New York.

They talked about the upcoming show, the Raven Drum Foundations work, drum circles, Lauren's solo shows and music healing events.

Rick was also asked about the 'Pyromania' album anniversary, box set and the upcoming Summer Stadium Tour with Journey.

And once again, as he did back in November 2023, Rick gave hints of what to expect from the setlist.

Pyromania 40 Box Set

Rick briefly spoke about the 40th anniversary Super Deluxe Edition box set that was recently announced for 26th April 2024.

He said he was pleased that the band are celebrating the album.

Full Pyromania Album Live?

Could the band be about to play Pyromania in full in 2024?.

It seems at least possible with 8 of the songs played either hundreds or multiple times by the current band line-up since 1992.

Only 'Action! Not Words' and 'Comin' Under Fire' need serious rehearsal time or to be re-learned from scratch.

'Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)', 'Stagefright', 'Too Late For Love' would seem the most likely to be played alongside the more obvious 'Foolin'', 'Rock Of Ages' and 'Photograph'.

With 'Die Hard The Hunter' and 'Billy's Got A Gun' on the maybe list.

The studio album is also significantly shorter than 'Hysteria' possibly increasing its chances of a full playing live with plenty of room for an extended 'hits' section after it.

'Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)' is also a ready made show opener with the album intro used recently in 2009 and the same intro played live in 1993 on the 'Adrenalize' tour.

"Oh man. I'm starting to feel my age. But I mean, Pyromania speaks for itself."

"I think that was really the record that really catapulted Def Leppard into a different league."

"I think it's fantastic that we're celebrating that."

"I'm not sure whether that's because we're on the endangered species list, but no, Def Leppard music lends itself very well to that setting."

"And it's been a while since we've been out with Journey, but we were out with the Motley Crue on and off for like 18 months and that was incredibly successful."

"So it'll be nice to get out there again."

Host - "At this point, what is rehearsing for putting that show together like this many years in? And again, after this many rounds at this scale, do you start from zero and build it up again each time? Is it a heavy workout getting ready to get back out?."

"It's always a heavy workout because you're always trying to innovate."

"You're trying to come up with something that's fresh, something that's new."

"So there are production elements involved, but I think above all, it really hinges on the quality of the music and the fact that this band put a lot of work into the music and making sure it sounds as good as it possibly can."

"And of course, it's nice to put on a show that's a spectacle that people remember for years to come."
