Show Intro

"Evening all, welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on The Wonderful Planet Rock."

"It's great to be with you. We've only got 60 minutes, one solid hour of rock."

"So, where are we going to start? Let's try this. Would you please welcome from England, UFO."

UFO

"They were a wonderful band. They were such a wonderful live band as well. Absolutely stunning."

"I saw them for the very first time at the Ipswich Gaumont, believe it or not, when a fledgling Def Leppard went on a holiday on a boat on the Norfolk Broads."

"We went on out and took a taxi about 30 miles and there we were seeing Michael Shenko in all his big boot glory and his fancy flying V wedged between his legs."

"It was just brilliant. Pete Way with his stripy trousers, Phil Mogg, a fantastic frontman, and they were promoting the album Obsession."

"So, it was an incredible gig. But there we've gone back a couple of years earlier to 1976, No Heavy Pettin'. It is the song Natural Thing."

Mott The Hoople

"So, just a few days ago I saw the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest albums in my record collection."

"That album is The Hoople. Here's a couple of tracks celebrating that fact, starting off with, of course, who else? Mott The Hoople."

"And before that, the band themselves. What a great album The Hoople is, the song we heard, Pearl 'N' Roy, brackets, England, close brackets.."

Down 'N' Outz

"Obviously not Mott The Hoople. That is my little side band, The Down 'N' Outz, so my second album, The Further Adventures Of."

"But it's a track that does feature on The Hoople, which was released in 1974, the track we heard Marionette."

Bad Company

"And keeping Mott The Hoople on the front burner, if you like, belated happy 80th birthday to Mick Ralphs."

"And before that, albeit slightly belatedly, celebrating Mick Ralphs 80th birthday, we heard some Bad Company, a band Mick formed with ex-Free Members Paul Rogers and Simon Kirke and, of course, also Boz Burrell on bass when Mick left Mott The Hoople."

"But he brought with him a song that they previously recorded on the All The Young Dudes album."

"And they recorded it for Bad Company's debut album. We just heard it. It is Ready For Love."

Elton John

"Well, it has to be one of the greatest double albums ever made. It is 1973's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road."

"It's Elton John with Grey Seal."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up, we're going to go and indulge ourselves in some figments of emancipation with a band who are currently on their farewell tour."

Doctors Of Madness

"Such a wonderful, wonderful band. I saw them live for the very first time back in 1976."

"I fell in love with their music then, and I'm still in love with their music now."

"They are The Doctors Of Madness, currently on their farewell tour around the UK, but we just heard them there from their second album back in 1976."

"The album is Figments Of Emancipation. The songs that we heard are basically joined at the hip, so I couldn't separate them. Brothers and Suicide City."

Be Bop Deluxe

"Now, when I saw The Doctors for the first time, they were special guests for this next band. This is Be Bop Deluxe."

"And before that, we heard Be Bop Deluxe from 1976. From the album Modern Music, we heard a wonderful bit of work called Down On Terminal Street."

The Small Faces

"Steve Marriott. Wow, what a talent. In fact, when he quit The Small Faces, it took two people to replace him, and they were pretty special too."

"We're talking Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart, but the original band, what a great act they were."

"From the album, there are but four small faces. We just heard that immortal piece of work called Itchycoo Park."

Show Outro

"And that, my dear friends, is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure, as always."

"I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time, so don't go anywhere."

"Until then, though, I shall leave you with this, and here is what I would normally say to you."

"If you're in Sheffield, get yourself down to The Leadmill to watch this band."

"But, like a year ago when Def Leppard played it, not much point, because it sold out."

"Here's the next coincidence. This band, the guitar player, is Rick Savage's son."

"So, here we are with their brand new song. This is VIVAS with It's Alright."

"Until next week, see ya!."
